I knocked on my new mom's door. She immediately opened it, as if she was waiting right behind it.
"Oh good, lets go begin." She said, waving me out of her way. I stepped aside, allowing her to pass me and then I followed her.
"Are you excited, Brynn?" She asked me as we made our way down the stairs.
"Yes, I am. I'd never been on a horse before..." I said. Queen Mathilda laughed.
"Today's your day, sweetie!" She said, stopping at the foot of the stairs. I assumed I should too, so I did.
She stroked my hair and she looked at me with a faint smile.
"You know, I am really happy that you could be a part of this family." She said.
"Oh..." I said. "Me too."
My new mom smiled.
"Brynn, by any chance, did Ty or Lia tell you about Brianna?" She questioned.
I nodded.
The Queen frowned. But when she looked back at me, she smiled.
"I couldn't live with myself after her death. But now that you're here, I can resume my happy life." She said, squealing with excitement and pulling me in for a hug.
I felt so loved at this point.
Not just by my new mom, but by Ty. I smiled at the thought of him.
His beautiful face was stuck in my brain- and I couldn't make it go away. I thought about him throughout my training session with my mom.
At the end of our practice, my mom told me something that made me cry with joy.
"I want you to know, Brynn, that you and Ty will end up getting married. It's a tradition- a heir of the family must marry another person from that family. You'll have an arranged marriage, and I hope that Ty doesn't cause you trouble." The Queen said.
My heart was beating so fast. I was incredibly excited to grow up now.
My whole life will be spent with Ty!?
Oh.
My.
Gosh!
I had to run out of the field in order to not burst with happiness.
The Queen told me when to come down for dinner, and I made sure to not be late. I needed to make a good impression, and I wanted her to know that I loved her and respected her.
I ran into the kitchen of the castle, which had the entrance connected to it from the field, and of course, I was lost.
But Ty came into the kitchen as soon as I did, and he seemed glad to help me out.
"I saw you training with mom." he said, leading the way up the stairs.
"Uh...yeah." I muttered awkwardly.
Ty suddenly stopped walking once we reached the top of the stair case.
He turned around and looked at me.
"You're much cooler than Brianna." He said.
"What makes you say that?" I asked as I leaned on the expensive railing.
"Brianna was more enclosed in her own world and she despised me for attempting to talking to her." Ty began.
"Well she doesn't seem like the nicest of people..." I joked, which earned a smile from Ty.
"When she ended up dying, I was kinda glad." He admitted, in a hushed tone.
My eyes widened.
"The Queen- I mean, mom, will not be happy if she hears that!" I said, lowering my voice as well.
"Well, it's true. I trust you- please don't tell anyone, okay?" He begged.
I nodded.
"I'm glad that there's a fun and awesome person like you around. The castle sure got boring when Brianna left. I mean, who was there to fill in for her whining and complaining?" Ty said as he laughed.
It took me a minute to realize his joke and when I did I couldn't help but laugh.
"Well, you're got me now." I said.
He grinned and lead me down the hall, stopping at my door.
"Here we are." he said. I thanked him as I entered the room and shut the door.
Then I ran to the closet and I turned on the light. But to my surprise, Lia was there.
She jumped when she saw me so startled to see her.
And she was holding one of my new dresses.
"Brynn! I was picking out a dress for you." She said, handing me a violet gown with beautiful diamond studs on it.
I thanked her and apologized for scaring her.
I changed into the gown, and Lia did my hair. She put it in a french braid that fell over my shoulder.
I loved the new look.
"Thanks so much Lia...I look and feel awesome...like a real princess." I said as I lightly touched my hair.
Lia bowed and headed to the door.
"Be downstairs in ten minutes." She said, leaving my room. I looked back at the mirror.
I truly did feel like a real princess.
