We ran all the way to the top of the mountain. It was midnight by the time we reached the top.
Panting, hungry, cold and tired were some words to describe what we all felt at that point.
I looked down. I saw the ruins of the town that I used to call my home. I let out a scream as I fell to my knees.
Ty wrapped his arms around me as I sobbed into his chest. Ashley touched my back and she patted me.
"It's okay. We'll be okay." She said. The wind picked up and I let go of Ty.
"No we won't!" I said. Ashely made a sad face and she sat down next the little patch of snow on the ground.
It was freezing up here, yet the mountain wasn't all that high up off the ground.
"Now what?" Ty asked us.
"We're free." Ashley said. "Free of any commandments, rules and regulations."
"Yeah." I said, wiping away tears.
"So...what now?" Ty asked again.
"I dunno." Ashley replied.
"We should get off this mountain. It's freezing here." I said.
"Yeah, good idea." Ty said and we all proceeded our journey down the mountain to the ruins below.

The next morning, we reached the ruins. I covered my mouth at the sight of the dead bodies.
This was all my fault. I thought.
"We did all this, Brynn. It's our fault." Ty said, his blue eyes filling with tears.
"Yeah." I said as my tears fell down my cheeks.
"Don't cry." Ashley said. "We'll be okay."
Ty smiled and he wiped away the water from his eyes. I did the same.
"Well, let's explore." I said, walking over rubble and skeletons. And to come to think of it, this all was once my home. And it was peaceful and calm only two days ago. Now, there is nothing left but ashes and bones.
I tripped over something. As I turned to pick up the object, I screamed. It was a skull. I ran away from the graveyard and I slammed right into the fence that signaled the entry to the castle land. I gasped. This was the castle.
"Guys! I found it!" I screamed to Ty and Ashley as they ran over to me. I pushed open the gate and we ran up the hill to the front doors. They were open, and I saw no trace of dead people, like Lia and Iña and the yellow guards.
"What the heck?" I said as I slowly entered the castle.
"This wasn't like this when we left." Ty said.
"Yeah..." I began. By now, we were all inside the foyer of the castle.
"Let's split up and look around." Ty said.
I walked up the staircase, which was far less elegant than the other one at the other town. I turned the corner to my bedroom. I opened the door and I looked inside.
My bedroom. It was still the way I left it. The bed was made, the closet was slightly opened. The balcony doors were wide open, from when the guard exited from there. I stepped inside and turned around facing the mirror. My hair was unmade and my whole body was caked in dirt. I exhaled and I walked into my closet to grab a fresh set of clothes, yet once I opened the door, all my gowns and clothes were gone. I raised an eyebrow. Something happened.
I ran out of the closet and onto the balcony. There was a little puddle of blood on the railing, and I looked down and saw no trace of human activity anywhere. I ran back inside to my bedroom and I ran to the hall and into Ty's bedroom. His closet was still flung open, and I saw the squished clothing on the bottom from where Ty and I sat when we hid from the guards. I looked around and I saw no clues to help me get anywhere.
I searched the whole hallway and I found nothing. So I walked down the staircase and I met Ty and Ashley in the foyer.
"Got anything?" My sister asked. I shook my head 'no.' They both sighed and looked around the room.
"What now?" Ty asked.
That one question was starting to bug me.
"I don't know. Now we just wait." I said.
"Wait for what?" Ashley asked.
I walked around in a circle as if the answer was swimming in the air and I was trying to catch it.
"For hope. For a sign." I began.
"For a signal." Ty added.
"For peace. For answers." I continued.
"For happiness." Ty said.
"For life to start up again." Ashley whispered.
