Twenty Seven

I opened the door quickly. The person curled up into a ball and hid her face.

"Don't hurt me!" She said, holding her hands up in surrender.

"Ashley!" I said.

The girl turned around, and indeed, it was my twin sister, Ashley.

"Brynn!" She said, lunging herself on me and hugging me.

"How the heck did you get here!?" I said as we pulled away.

"You have no idea." She said. I put her dirty face in my hands and I kissed her nose.

"I missed you so much!" I said and I hugged her again.

"Me too." Ashley said, breaking into tears.

"Let's get you cleaned up. Then you explain to me what is happening in the other town." I said.

I took Ashley's hand in mine and I slowly lead her out of my room. I held a finger up to my lips to signal her to be quiet. She nodded and followed me as we tried to find the bathroom. I slowly passed Ty's bedroom and he flung his door open, and he looked at Ashley with wide eyes.

"Who're you?" He whispered.

"This is my twin, Ashley." I whispered back. Ashley waved.

"How did you get here!?" Ty asked.

"I was gonna tell Brynn after my shower." Ashley said quietly.

Ty nodded and followed us as we found the bathroom on the other side of the castle.

"This place is huge." Ty said.

Ashley laughed and agreed.

I let go of her hand and took Ty's hand instead as we waited for Ashley to go in the bathroom.

"You two dating?" She asked as she opened the bathroom door.

"Yep." Ty said as he kissed me head. Ashley smiled and she slipped inside the bathroom.

"We have to hide." Ty said.

"Wait for my sister!" I said.

He rolled his eye playfully and he ducked behind a plant that stood in the hallway.

"Just to be safe." he said as he motioned for me to squat behind him. I did.

We squatted there for about 10 minutes and finally, Ashley came out of the bathroom. She had a towel wrapped around her and her hair was up in a bun. I grabbed her elbow and I lead her and Ty to my room. Once we got there, I tossed Ashley a white blouse and blue shorts and she went in my closet to change her clothes. I took her old clothes and I threw them out the window. No one needs them anymore.

Ty sat on my bed.

"What the heck did she do to get here?" He asked.

"I dunno. We'll find out." I said.

My sister came out of the closet and she sat down on the floor in front of Ty and me.

"Okay, story time." She said. I giggled and I awaited her story. I made a serious face as soon as I saw that Ashley was taking this situation seriously.

"The town was calm and peaceful before the incident. The morning you two were kidnapped and the day that the castle was invaded, chaos broke out. Even though the queen was kidnapped, we all relied on you two. But once these dudes took you all away, the officials of the town suspected that something was wrong. They went to the castle, discovered the bodies, and they ran a search all around the area. People in the town, however, were going insane. They burned each others houses down, shot each other, got into fights, and so on."

I saw the fear in her eyes as she spoke.

"And mom and dad...were killed in a bombing done by some stupid teenagers."

I gasped. Ashley began to tear up and she wiped away the water from her eyes.

"I tried to save them, but it was hard. They were exploded into bits."

I saw sparks from the corners of my vision. Tears blurred my sight even more, and I leaned on Ty's shoulder. He wrapped his arms around me as he listened in too.

"Ty, I'm sorry but your pig died in the bombing too." Ashley added.

I felt a tear drop from Ty's eyes and it landed on my head.

Ashley continued.

"I ran away to avoid being killed. And as I made my way out of the town yesterday night, I caught a glimpse of the castle. It was being invaded my an angry mob and I turned away and ran up the mountain with nothing but the clothes on my back. I got caught in a group of hikers from this town this very morning, and they lead me to here. They took care of me in their home and I thanked them as I made my way to this castle. I climbed up the bricks to this balcony. I hid around the door until you found me."

I sniffled.

"This town is so similar to the other one, it breaks my heart to admit that our old town was destroyed. The only thing standing was the castle and I'm pretty sure that it's not there anymore. I'm not risking to go back there, and this is our last resort of safety."

"We have to go back! I need to see the ruins!" I cried. Ty held my hand and he told me to calm down.

"No Brynn. You'll get killed." Ashley said.

"Then what the hell do we do!?" I screamed a bit too loudly.

"Shhhh!" Ty said as he squeezed me to him.

Footsteps sounded from outside the door. Ashley looked at me with a scared facial expression.

"Hide!" I hissed.

Ashley ducked under my bed and Ty ran into the closet.

A guard opened my bedroom door just in time. He inspected my room and shrugged and left.

Ty and Ashley climbed out from their hiding spots and they stood next to me.

"What we will do?" Ty asked.

"We fight back." I said.
