Dinner time came around. I was on my balcony with Ashley and Ty.
My stomach growled.
"Dinner time." Ty announced and he straightened up from leaning on the railing.
"Wait- I just realized something." Ashley said. She was gazing out at the rubble beneath us.
"What is it?" I asked.
"The castle wasn't the only thing left standing." Ashley began.
Ty raised an eyebrow.
"The Execution Stage!" Look! It's still there! How did we miss it!?" She shrieked as she pointed to the stage.
"Let's go check it out!" Ty said as he lead the way to the front doors. He flung them open and bright rays of sunlight flashed at us. We stepped outside and walked the mile to the stage.
"Why is it so clean?" Ty asked. He looked suspicious. "It should be covered in ashes considering these surroundings."
Oh yeah. I see now.
"What the hell?" Ashley whispered. She walked onto the stage and she stood at the middle.
"Someone's been here before we got here. Something's up." I said as I walked over to my sister. Ty wandered over to us and he looked around. He turned backward and then he gasped.
I flipped around and I suddenly became aware of what he was gasping at. Ashley seemed stunned too.
Queen Mathilda was standing there with all the guards dressed in yellow behind her.
She had a smirk on her face and there was a black crate with weapons in front of her.
"Welcome back Princess Brynn! Or better yet, Brynn." The Queen said.
My eyes widened. What!?
"What's going on?" I asked.
"This town was supposed to be destroyed. You two were transported to the other one and I was supposed to arrive there today. But, a malfunction occurred when you three killed all the guards! And I stationed my kidnapping to make this town go into ruins. These guards here weren't actually dead. And all the servants? They're alive and well, in the other town. If you had stayed, Ty and Brynn, maybe this wouldn't be happening. And I see that Ashley joined you two! Wonderful!"
What was I hearing? My head twirled around and I felt like I was going to puke.
"If you all insisted on coming back here, then I have no choice but to execute you all like the traditional way that everyone else faced." The queen spoke.
Ashley broke into sobs.
"No no no!" She screamed.
"Shhh." I said as I comforted her.
"So, let's begin! I want you to go first." The queen said, pointing to Ashley.
"No!" I screamed, pulling my sister back.
"Well, then it'll be you. The queen said, gesturing to me.
"NO." Ty said.
"Then it's your turn." The queen said.
"We aren't going." I snapped.
"Well then." The queen said. Three guard appeared from the curtains. They placed three chairs on the stage. Then they grabbed us and secured us in the chairs. My arms and legs were strapped onto the arms and legs of the chair. So were Ashley's and Ty's.
"What the fuck!?" I screamed.
"Profanity!" Queen Mathilda said. She slapped my face and scolded me as she brought over the crate of weapons.
Ty looked at me with a worried expression. Ashley looked at me too with the same face. Tears welled in my eyes and I ended up sobbing like my sister.
"All three of you will go then!" The queen beamed.
"Why're you doing this?" Ty asked. "I thought you loved us." He sobbed.
"Once evil, always evil." The queen said as she grinned.
Everything came back to me now. This was all a setup. Queen Mathilda never loved her town. She's evil to the bone. She spared me and Ty just to play tricks with our minds. Ashley should've been killed long ago. But she was spared too. Twice.
"I guess this will be fastest." The queen said as she picked up the bag of syringes. "My favorite!" She said.
Ty broke into tears too. We were all about to die.
The queen prepared the needles and then she approached us.
"Ready?" She asked. Ashley shook her head quickly.
"Please. No." I begged. Ty's lip quivered.
"Too bad." The queen said.
With a few swift movements, she injected Ashley, Ty and then me in our vein in our necks. I felt the poison submerge in me.
At the final moments of my life, I glanced over to my sister and my boyfriend, who were in the same state of numbness as I was. Ashley squeezed my hand. I held her hand and Ty's. We were dying together.
"What now?" Ty asked in between breaths.
Ashley sighed and leaned back in her chair. With her final breaths, she said:
"We wait for life to begin."
