I had no sleep. Zero minutes. Absolutely none.

It was finally sunrise, and I was sitting at the edge of the bed with heavy eyes, staring out at the skyline. My back hurt from being hunched over for hours at a time. I just can't sleep when I'm far from my homeland.

I wondered what someone would think if they walked into the castle that I used to live in right about now. I wondered what they would think once they'd see all the dead bodies. And all the blood. And the fact that the royal people were kidnapped.

The sun suddenly burst out a huge amount of rays, and I squinted as I looked away from the window.

I was still terrified of the guard dressed in black. I'm pretty sure that the one who assaulted me did that for a reason: to show Ty and me that he was powerful and that he could do whatever he wanted. I assumed that he was the leader of the pack.

Then, a sudden bang on my door startled me. I shot my head toward the door and I backed away closer to the wall.

The door creaked open and a guard stood in the doorway.

"Up up up. Food is in the dining room." he said and he turned around and left before I had a chance to ask him where that room even was.

I stood up and hurried to the closet and I got dressed. Then, I ran to Ty's room and I kicked at his door.

"Ty! You in there?" I asked.

The door swung open and I was pulled in. Ty covered my mouth and he simply said 'shhhhh' to me.

"What?" I whispered. Ty pointed to his window.

"I realized that these windows were sealed shut with a special glue so that a person can't break the seal too easily. I worked all night to pry it open and I did." Ty explained. I walked over to his window, and indeed, the pane was cracked and ready to break off.

"Sweet." I said as I turned back around and smiled.

"We need to play it cool." Ty said. "Make these dudes think you are okay with the fact that you were kidnapped."

"You're crazy." I said as I left his bedroom and I turned the corner to the staircase.

I slowly stepped down each stair and I heard voices from a far away hall. I followed the sounds until I reached a huge glass room.

Literally. This whole room was glass. The ceiling, floor, tables and chairs even were glass. I raised an eyebrow as I entered the room.

"Welcome Princess Brynn." A guard said. I followed him to the table and I sat down in a chair that he pulled out for me.

"Eat up." He said as he handed me a plate full of fruit. I looked at it with sadness. This was my favorite meal back at my old kingdom.

Ty found his way to the dining room shortly after I did. He sat down next to me and he was handed a fruit plate as well. He looked at me with sadness in his eyes as he began to eat.

I finished my food reluctantly. The guards around Ty and me made sure that we ate everything. Once I finished, I scurried out of the dining room and back to my bedroom.

I opened the doors that lead to the balcony and I looked beneath me at the town that I walked through yesterday.

The people were awake and working, like the people at my old kingdom. I saw a lot more children though, and I saw less animals compared to the other town. The houses were better in quality than the other town and there were more of them. There were no guards out on their fields to ensure the security of the town. I observed as some mountain people made their way out of the town and towards the mountain.

Now's your chance. I thought.

I quietly stepped out of my room and I walked down the staircase to the front door. I made sure no one was around me or watching me as I did this. I slowly put my had on the brass doorknob and I turned it slightly to the left to open it. The door inched outward and I saw the bright light from outside fill in the crack between the door frame and the door itself. I smiled as I saw more and more of the outdoors and I quickly stepped outside onto the wooden steps. I whiffed in a breath of fresh air and I attempted to shut the door behind me, but of course, a strong arm pulled me back inside and covered my mouth.

Ty.

He shut the door for me and he dragged me upstairs onto my bed.

"Are you insane!?" He said. He let go of me and closed my bedroom door. Then he walked over to me and sat next to me. I curled up into a ball and I covered my face.

"What if it was a guard that caught you escaping? You'd be executed immediately!" Ty explained.

"I'm sorry- I saw mountain people headed for the mountains and I wanted to go with them." I sobbed.

"You were going to leave me behind?" Ty asked. I looked up at his sad face.

"No... I wasn't thinking. I'm sorry." I said as I hugged him. "Thank you for making me reconsider my decision."

Ty pulled away from me and he stood up.

"I'm gonna go for now." He muttered as he left my room.

That evening, after dinner, I decided to roam around the castle- just to get a feel for what it looked like. I wandered off to the other side of the whole building and I found myself next to a huge indoor manmade waterfall that poured down into a pool. My mouth dropped open. Beautiful colored boulders circled around the room. There was a freaking waterfall in the ballroom of this castle! I heard voices and footsteps and I dodged behind a purple boulder.

"Well, the girl sure is pretty." Voice 1 said.

"I can agree; but she seems too scared and too young to be a queen." Voice 2 spoke.

They were talking about me.

I leaned forward to listen in better.

"And the boy? What do you think of him?" Voice 1 trilled.

"He's great. He's muscular, strong, pretty healthy; I want him to be a soldier." Voice 2 said.

Oh. Hell. No.

They were not going to tear Ty apart from me.

"That is a grand idea!" Voice 1 said. "But they both need to assimilate to this new environment. After all, we did kidnap them from their old home just yesterday."

The waterfall was really loud. I barely heard the last part of what the voice said.

"Let's discuss this topic later, shall we?" Voice 2 said.

"Agreed." Voice 1 said.

Then I heard footsteps descend away from the ballroom and I stood up to my feet. The two men were gone. I ran out of the ballroom and back to my bedroom with record speed. As I slammed the door shut, I noticed a figure quickly dash away from the glass balcony door. I was paranoid. Who was out there?

I slowly made my way to the balcony door and I put my hand on the handle. I looked out the glass door and I saw a person standing there, pressed against the wall. I knew it was a human being. I saw a hand pressed against the wall and a stomach which was breathing up and down quickly. I saw that the person has on a salmon colored, mud caked shirt and I saw two legs with dirty jeans on them and ratty old shoes on the feet. I saw a lock of long, curly brown hair. I looked in closer.

I suddenly knew who was standing there.
