"Tell me about your past life. You know, before the Execution Ceremony and before you got to live here." Ty said.
I didn't know why he was so interested to know about my past.
"Well, nothing really happened that was interesting. I was a worker, and I was poor." I said. "That's all I can say."
"I have an idea."
"What?"
"I know I'm prodding you and shoving you in all sorts of directions, but trust me, this will be great." Ty said.
He grabbed my arm and we ran down the stairs.
"Where are we going!? I asked.
"You'll see."
Ty turned the corner and we went into the hall that the bathroom was in. We passed a few doors and the bathroom, and then Ty stopped at the end of the hall.
"What is it?"
"Brynn, what's your biggest wish? A wish that you've wanted to be granted since your childhood?"
No one ever asked me this. But I knew exactly what I had wanted since I was little.
"A boyfriend."
It's true, that's what I've wanted for a long time.
"Really?" he asked, widening his eyes.
"Yep. I know I seem pathetic and stuff, and I know that I seem greedy."
"No, you don't."
"What?"
"You're not greedy. I have a wish too."
"Well, spill it! Tell me!" I begged. Ty bit his lip and looked at me.
"I've always wanted a girlfriend."
.............................................
A few days passed. Ty was just trying to get to know me. Now, we kinda know that we had feelings for each other.Ty took me down that hall a few days before just to tell me that. And I was glad that my questions were answered. He knew that I'd be surprised.
"I took you down to this hall so no one heard us. I wanna keep this a secret for now." Ty had said when we were down there.
Now, I was sitting on my bed watching the shadows creep around my room. It was late at night and I couldn't sleep. Ty was keeping me up. He was stuck in my head, and I knew that I would be dating him soon. Is this what being a princess felt like?
I had a hard time trying to fall asleep. Now, I was just bored. So, I stood up and I walked outside to the balcony. The cold air greeted me and I felt the wet, dew covered stone floor against my toes as I stepped out. I shut the glass door and I leaned on the railing. The wind blew my hair around and I inhaled a gulp of fresh air. I loved spending time out here. It was so peaceful. I turned my head to the direction of Ty's window. His bed was in my sight, and I saw him sleeping like a baby. I felt weird for staring at him as he slept, so I quickly looked away and at the town below me.
No one was outside. Everything was asleep, including the castle people. There were no gardeners out, and all their tools were put away neatly in their energy saving roofless shed.
I was growing more and more bored with each passing minute. And the air turned bitter cold. So I turned around to enter my room and to hopefully go back to bed. But, to my horror, when I shut the glass door, I guess I locked it.
I tugged on the handle.
Nothing.
Oh frickin' great.
I tried to keep calm as I tried to open the door again.
Still nothing.
I looked around the stone ground to see if there was a sharp object that could help me unlock the door.
But no. There was nothing.
I looked at Ty's window. Maybe I could wake him up somehow.
"Ty!" I shouted.
He was still asleep.
"Ty!!!" I hissed.
He didn't move. I looked around again, in hopes of finding a pebble to throw at his window. Where was he when you needed him!? He always crept up on me at the most inconvenient times, and now is when I really needed him.
I had no luck. The wind actually picked up, causing my nightgown to blow too.
The hairs on my arms stood up and I felt goosebumps form. My hair flew in all sorts of directions and I felt like sneezing.I couldn't call for help since it was dark and no one was up yet.
I was screwed.
I sat down next to the door and I hugged my knees. I felt really frustrated. Tears filled my eyes and I sniffled a little.
How long would I sit out here until I would freeze to death?
My heart pumped and I felt the stress overcome me.
By now, I was sobbing. Reality hit me.
I wasn't getting inside for a while.
I leaned my head back and I tried to fall asleep.
Half an hour later, when I couldn't feel my toes any longer and my hands went numb, there was a slight noise coming from the inside of my room.
I perked up and I pressed my ear to the glass.
"Brynn?"
Ty. His muffled words quickly gave me hope and I began to pound on the door.
"Ty! Ty! Ty! I'm out here! Help me!" I screamed.
Through the glass, I saw him walk toward the door and he unlocked it. I fell inside the room on my knees and I was basically worshiping him.
"Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!" I said.
"Brynn! Are you alright?" He asked, helping me to my feet.
I linked over to my bed and I plopped down on it. Ty sat next to me and he touched my hand.
"You're frostbitten." He said, pulling the covers over me.
"I-I g-ot locked o-out." I said, squeezing my head into the pillow.
"Aww, poor baby." Ty said in a sing song voice.
I didn't hear the rest of his words, because I fell asleep.
