"Your locker is right here," he said, shoving his hands into his pockets.
Looking at my schedule I reread my combination for my locker before putting it in. I had to try a few times before I successfully got it opened. I unpacked my backpack and put away the items I wouldn't need for my upcoming class. Then Justin and I headed to my first class of the day; literature. A woman named Miss Jackson was supposed to be my teacher. How funny considering that was one of my favorite songs by Panic at The Disco!
"Have you heard anything about her?" I prayed that I at least had a sweet teacher the first hour so the day starts off somewhat positive.
As we walked I noticed a few eyes on me. I figured it was just because I was the new kid, and there was a bruise still left on my cheek that was healing. I made a mental note to get up early enough so Jenna could cover it tomorrow, and also teach me how to.
"Yeah! Anybody that gets her class actually says she's one of their favorites so I bet she's awesome. Speaking of, this is her class right here." We stopped in front of the door some students were still pouring into.
"Give me a call if you need anything. Your next class is gonna be up the stairs in B hall," he explained briefly pointing in the direction of the staircase. I nodded, "Thanks man." I gave a small smile before walking into the classroom.
Since this isn't the very first day of school everyone had their seats already picked out. So, I just stood timidly as I waited to see what seats were still available.
"You must be Kellin?" A soft featured woman with dark brunette hair and thick rounded black glasses said to me. Her figure was slim as she wore a black pencil skirt with a red dress shirt tucked, this must be my teacher.
"That's me," I gave a warm awkward smile.
"There's a seat open in the back at that desk. Yours will be the one on the right." She pointed at the double seated desk. I nodded walking over to the empty desk and as soon as I sat down I pulled my notebook and binder out for this class. Since I seemed to be early, I decided I'd sketch in my notebook. It wouldn't be mine without a little bit of doodles. From the corner of my eye I noticed a figure sitting down next to me, but I didn't turn my head to look so I wouldn't draw any eyes.
It was no more than two minutes later when the bell had rung. My first day had officially started. I've spent the past week wondering how this would be and here I am. It's more boring than I thought it would be. The people do seem to be decent which I'm thankful for, I couldn't handle being bullied.
"Okay students, in a moment I will be collecting all your essays. I hope all of you got it completed and if not I'm giving you till the end of the day. You guys are juniors, I know you all know how to turn in work on time." Miss Jackson stood right in front of her desk. "I also did want to mention that we have a new student."
Oh no. Please don't-
"Kellin. Would you stand up and introduce yourself please? Tell the class something about yourself." Of course. Why can't we just skip the new kid thing? I really didn't want all this attention. Deciding against arguing back, I hesitantly stood up from my seat. I could feel the color leaving my features noticing all the eyes burning holes in my skin.
"Um Hello, I'm Kellin. I moved here from Michigan and I like to play guitar...and draw." I sat down as soon as my words were finished.
"Hopefully one day we'll get to hear you play," Miss Jackson commented. "Now," she pushed herself off the desk, and began collecting essays. "Today we're going to go over grammar.."
