Just like Dr. Montgomery said we came back, by this time I'm twenty weeks along. This is Vic's first appointment with me, so I've got to admit I'm pretty excited too.
"You're cute, I'm happy you're excited." With my boyfriend being here I know this time I'll be relaxed. The last time I was here I could barely enjoy the fact that I was having triplets. Now with all the weight off my shoulders, things were finally starting to look up. This place reminds me of that guy I met last time. Now that things are calm I can consider calling Ashley now.
"This might be the appointment where we can see what we're having," I mentioned to Vic what I had read online.
"Do you have an idea on what you want?" He asked.
"At least one of each," I smiled softly.Another fifteen minutes later we were being called into the back. The nurse gave me the usual check up, and this time she also had to take more samples from my body. Which I hated because they had withdrawn blood from me, and in my little time being here I've discovered I hate needles. With a passion, which told me that getting through an epidural later might be hell. I laid on the exam bed with my shirt raised up over my stomach as we waited for Dr. Montgomery.
"This is what the beans look like now," Vic said to himself as he looked at a diagram over a fetus's growth. That nickname for the little ones always brought me a small smile.
"They actually look like babies. Now I'm really wondering who they're going to look like more," Vic chuckled looking back at me.
"Watch us get a girl version of you," I laugh lightly.
"If we end up with a girl version of you, you might just see me cry. I can only imagine how much of a drama queen she'd be." I playfully hit Vic's arm.
"Hey! I'm not lying, they'd have so much attitude in that small body," He laughed, pinching my side. I couldn't keep the giggles from escaping while wiggled trying to push his hand away. There was a knock on the door–causing us to settle down– and I said, "Come in!" Dr. Montgomery came in smiling when she saw me."Hey Kellin, how have we been doing today? I also see you've brought someone." She says sweetly her smile just the same.
"I've been doing good today. This is my boyfriend and father of the babies, Vic."
The two shook hands, "It's very nice to meet you. Thank you for joining us today," Dr. Montgomery said before she turned to me.
"How have your symptoms been?" She asked, putting on hand sanitizer before sitting down on the rolling stool.
"I've been okay, I've been experiencing heartburn more often. My morning sickness has subsided so that has been nice. My back and feet have been aching though." I explained, ignoring how cold the gel is as she rubs it into my skin.
"Okay, next time you see me you'll be nearly thirty weeks along, and I know you'll still be in school. Since you're pregnant with triplets, I'm going to give you notes to excuse yourself from school because you'll need to go on bed rest. You're going to need a lot of rest to prepare, but I also don't want you to go into labor too early."
I nodded at her words, "Okay that sounds good."A smile ran across my face when we came across the first baby, their heartbeat going strong like last time. My heart fell in love all over again listening to the little thumps. That noise is one of my absolute favorites now. I felt Vic lace our fingers together, so I glanced over at him. His eyes were glued to the screen as he watched, and I could see tears gathering in his eyes. My already softened heart turned to mush seeing the love filled in his eyes. Noticing I was watching him, a smile brightened his features before he brought my hand up to his lips and kissed it. The fact that he's so happy makes me happy. My eyes averted back to the screen as Dr. Montgomery updated us on their health and growth weight.
"I can tell you guys what you're having," Dr. Montgomery said.
"We want to know," An excited smile pulled at my lips. I watched the screen in anticipation. I can finally give Justin and Tony an answer, so they can start planning my baby shower.
"So you're having a boy..." She said and Vic squeezed my hand out of excitement. From the beginning Vic has been talking about how he wanted at least one boy, and there he is. Vic and I haven't talked about names yet either, we'll have to start figuring that out.
"A girl..." It took everything in me not to jump out of the bed in excitement.
One of each just like I wanted!
"Another boy! Congratulations!" She smiled. "Good job so far Kellin."
Our little girl is going to have two brothers. If they're anything like Mike, they'll give her headaches while they grow up, and I can't wait to see it.
