I merged our calls before speaking, "It's Kellin my water broke. Vic's probably still about twenty minutes out, so I have no way there until he gets here." I told her. "And it looks like traffic is a little big congested- damn it!" Vic voiced. "Okay, have you been tracking your contractions?" She asked, I could hear rustling on her side. "About ten minutes now, but-" I paused, feeling pain balling inside me, "Hold on- contraction." I say before letting out a puff of air. I bounce trying to relieve at least some of the pain, but that didn't seem to help as my pain kept climbing. "You're doing so good baby," Vic told me. When the contraction passed I sighed, "They're getting closer together."
"Okay, It seems like things are progressing quickly. Stay calm for now though, what's your pain level?"
"It feels like a ten, but I was told it's going to get worse than this," I told her. "Okay, you didn't see any blood or anything else alarming like that when you're water broke?" Dr. Montgomery asked. "No," I shook my head despite her not being able to see me. "If your contractions get any worse give me a call back okay? I hope Vic can get you here in time," she told me. "Okay thank you," I said and let her hang the phone up. "Where are you?" I asked Vic. "Stuck in traffic, it's moving just very slowly. I'm thinking this will add at least another ten to fifteen minutes. I'm trying to go as fast as I can Princess." I smiled softly at his words, he is trying. "Okay, we'll be okay...Please be careful though, drive safely." I said. "You will, I'll be sure of it. Thank you baby."While waiting on Vic my contractions only got worse, and now they were beginning to topple over one another while becoming increasingly stronger. A few tears rolled down my cheeks while I lay on the bed. Finally I heard Vic announce himself from the living room. Immediately he made his way to me, getting down next to me. "Come on baby," He said, moving to grab me. "Don't touch me!" I told him, holding up a hand while I winced. I knew this was going to be tiring but I wasn't expecting how extensive that statement was actually going to be. "We've got to go, Kell. The doctors can at least put you on medicine," he told me. "I c-can't move. Hurts too bad," I told him whimpering. It was another couple minutes before I felt like I could move. Vic helped me up, and led me to the car. "You should get the diaper bag," I told him before throwing my head back with a puff of air. The pain was building again, and god was it coming with a vengeance. "I think we should just go ahead and go. I can come back and get everything later. Especially since we have to stay," He explained. I nodded, "Okay- you're right. Let's go," I nodded and he shut the door. Vic got into the car and in almost no time he was pulling out of our garage. I whined my hand finding the grip on the door next to me. "You're doing so well, baby boy. I'm going to let Dr. Montgomery know we're headed that way okay?" Vic told me, glancing in my direction. I nodded, focusing on my breathing while Vic got onto the phone. He updated Dr. Montgomery on the situation, and she told us everything would be ready as soon as we got there. We were still ten minutes away when Vic and I approached congested traffic. "Fuck! I forgot not to go this way again," Vic let out a frustrated grunt. "You'd think it would've let up by now," I groaned. As another contraction began, I couldn't help but push slightly and in turn I felt as if my body were on fire. I yelled, feeling a huge amount of pressure in my southern region. Instinctively I felt the need to push, "V-Vic somethings happening." I was already laying back so I pushed my pants off, feeling a little bit of relief from that alone. We had come to a full stop so Vic was able to look over at me. "What is it?" He asked. "I don't know!" I gave into the feeling, also yelling in pain while gripping onto the provided grip as it felt as if my body was being ripped in half. "We're moving baby," Vic said in an attempt to console me.
I need to figure out what's happening. I reached down and felt around my opening feeling the softness of hair. That sent anxiety shooting through me. Is that one of the babies' heads?? "I can feel their head-" I said before being cut off by my own yell, I couldn't help but to push. It felt like the only thing that would help relieve my body during my contractions. The more I pushed, the more it felt as if my body was being torn apart from the waist down. My knuckles turned white as my hold on the grip was tight, and I couldn't help the cries that slipped passed my lips. "Like the baby is coming out already?" Vic asked a bit panicked, looking between me, and the road. "Yes!" I cried out, before trying to do breathing exercises. Vic dialed Dr. Montgomery, and she answered on the first ring. "One of the babies is coming out!" Vic briefly explained. "How far are you guys?" She asked. "We're still ten minutes away, a little less we're moving but traffic is heavy," Vic explained. "Okay, how far has the baby come?" I reached back down touching feeling the top of the head exposed. "I think my baby is crowning," I said worriedly. "I hate to say this but you've got to keep going now, but don't push too hard you could tear. Go in time with your contractions, once they stop you take a break. I'm going to stay on the phone until you guys get here." Please let me bring my babies into the world as safely as I can. Please let them all be healthy. "I'm scared," I admit to. "You've got this Princess, this is the hardest part," He gave me a soft smile, and I nodded. As I felt that familiar pain beginning to simmer, I prepared myself. When I had begun pushing I screamed, the burning pain was all I could feel. Dr. Montgomery was able to walk me through the process of getting the first baby's head out.
"You're doing really great, Kellin." Dr. Montgomery said. "We're almost there," Vic said, speeding up a bit as we got to the main road. "When you guys get here, you're going to have to stay in the car until we get the baby out." I wish I could see what our baby looked like right now. The pain climbed again which meant I had to push, and luckily by this time Vic had finally gotten us to the parking lot. I went ahead and began, and during my process Vic stopped us right in front of the clinic. The doctors opened the door, and Dr. Montgomery appeared in front of me. "Good job Kellin, they're almost out. Keep going!" Vic grabbed my free hand allowing me to squeeze it as I gave one more push. I then heard loud cries fill the air and I smiled tiredly. Dr. Montgomery held the baby up, "It's a boy!" I couldn't help but smile as I looked at the pale infant covered in goop and amniotic fluid. I took note of how much hair was on his head, I was bald as a baby so he must get that from his dad. "He looks like you," I told Vic sweetly. "Wanna come cut the cord?" Dr. Montgomery offered to Vic, and he gave me a quick kiss on the cheek before getting out of the car and running around to the other side. After Vic had helped cut the cord Dr. Montgomery asked, "Do you want to try a different position?" I nodded. They helped me out of the car, and with my arms holding me up I lent against the seat so Dr. Montgomery was behind me. While Vic was came to stand next to me I felt another contraction.I let Dr. Montgomery and the other nurses guide me through it. I gripped the seat whimpering at the pressure yet again. "You've almost got the head out," She said. Vic went to take a look and when he came back I noticed some of the color had drained from his face. That must've been quite the sight. When their head was finally out I could take a few moments to breathe before I had to push again. "Oh my god!" I screamed, my legs shaking at the excruciating pain before a wave of relief washed all over me. Using a green bulb syringe they cleared the baby's airway so they could cry. That sound was like a weight lifted off my shoulders. "It's a girl!" I turned just to see her, smiling as I saw she also had a head full of hair. "You're so amazing," Vic said, kissing my head. "She's perfect." After letting Vic cut the cord again they took her away. "You're doing awesome, Kellin. One more to go!" Dr. Montgomery said. One more and this is all over. With how exhausting this is I don't think I can handle one more. "I-I don't know if I can," I shook my head. I wasn't ready to feel that type of pain again. "Just our second baby boy, Princess. That's it and this will be over and you can rest." Vic sweetly said, rubbing my back. I whimpered as a contraction built within me, "O-okay." I can't wait to rest, I'm more than ready for it. When I began pushing I let my head fall as I couldn't keep my screams to myself. I squeezed Vic's hand as tears fell down my cheeks. Turning my head toward Vic I said through my sobs, "You did this!" I was overjoyed when I finally felt that wave relief as the last baby fell out of me. "You did it Kell!" Vic smiled as we heard the baby crying. That was music to my ears, they're okay. "It's a girl? It's a girl!" A girl? I thought we were having two boys? They're my babies so I love them regardless but that was not what Dr. Montgomery said. I'm sure Dr. Montgomery will be able to talk about it when I'm settled in my room. "I'm glad it's over," I gave Vic a tired smile. Our second little girl also had a head full of hair, but she seemed to look a lot like Jenna when she was this young. Instead of two boys we have two girls.
"Let's get you inside," Vic and a nurse helped me stand so the other nurses could move me to a gurney. They used a blanket to cover my bottom half as I got as comfortable as I could. "Where's the babies?" I asked. "The nurses are already giving them a checkup. They'll meet you in your room," Dr. Montgomery smiled at me. Now that I could rest, that's exactly what I did. I let my eyes close and my body relax as they wheeled me. I felt another contraction forming, causing me to wince and put a hand on my belly. "What's wrong?" Vic asked. "I-I don't know," I said right before grabbing Vic's hand for comfort. I ended up squeezing it due to my pain beginning to climb. "You may just be giving birth to your placentas," Dr. Montgomery explained. The feeling became so intense that I felt myself wanting to instinctively push again. "Something is wrong, this feels just like-" I cut myself off with my own scream. Everyone's movement's came to an abrupt stop before Dr. Montgomery looked to see what was going on under the blanket. Her eyes widened before she pushed the blanket forward. "Oh- Push!" I gave into the feeling. My body felt as if it were on fire again and I whimpered at the pain as I tried to control my breathing. This felt as if I were giving birth again! "Keep going Kellin, I need you two to hold his legs," She said to the two nurses. I clenched my jaw as the burn grew greater at my entrance. "What is it??" Vic asked, highly confused holding my hand. "Well.." She began with a smile. "One more big push!" I did what she said just wanting my pain to be over. When the relief washed over me this time I wasn't expecting to hear a cry after. "Here's your boy!" She announced holding the baby up. "Oh my.." I whispered looking up at Vic. The man's eyes were puffy and he sniveled as he looked at the tearful amniotic fluid covered infant. Leaning forward he kissed my sweaty head before smiling at me. "You really make me the happiest man in the world," he said, looking back up at the baby. Once the doctor placed the crying infant on my chest, a sob sounded from my lips as I gently bounced him. "No more surprises yeah?" Dr. Montgomery chuckled as we began walking to the room. "Thank you all so much for your incredible work," I said looking around at my medical team. I looked back down at our surprise. Our family is bigger than we thought.
