After staying in the hospital for four days we were discharged and able to take the babies home. I'm relieved that everything is finally over. Even with how it all started and my dad paying me a visit. I guess I am thankful for the stunt he pulled. Only because they found him and now I didn't have to worry about him randomly showing up to our home. If that would've happened I don't know what I would've done. I'm sure he would've planned it strategically, and found some way to break in. I don't even want to think about what he would've managed to do then.

"I can't believe Wade actually showed up at the hospital! He's got what was coming to him, now he's in jail for longer! He'll be lucky if he gets out alive." Mom said with annoyance evident in her voice as she swaddled Milo in a blanket. My eyes were fixated on Amelia, who was sleeping peacefully next to her sister as if she had been here the whole time. I'm so relieved she's back under my care and safe. The moment I watched Wade round the corner with her in his arms flashed in my mind, and that unique sinking feeling appeared in my stomach. "I honestly felt so useless at that moment. I feel like I should've done something more. I've never felt so terrified before in my life," I admit not pulling my eyes from the sleeping infant as if she could magically vanish. I continued, "I thought I was going to lose her before I had the chance to even get acquainted with her. We hadn't known about her this whole time." Thinking back to that day sent a wave of emotions through me, causing my eyes to become glossy. I attempted to blink back my tears but it only caused them to pool out. "Oh, Kell," Mom sighed softly. "You did the very best you could okay? You really should give yourself some room. Giving birth is one of the hardest things in the world to do, nor does it leave you feeling one hundred percent." Scooping Milo into her arms, she bounced him for a few moments before laying him down beside his brother in one of the bassinets. "I was so scared for her..." I smeared a rolling droplet against my cheek. I wouldn't know what to do if I lost one of my babies. Mom's voice was sweet as she spoke, "She's home and safe now. The only person in the world that wants to hurt them is locked away for good. Vic would never let anything happen to you guys. I can see how much he loves you."

Ember wiggled uncomfortably in the blanket she was wrapped up in, so I picked her up before she could begin to fuss. "Thanks, Mom. I have to get used to the fact of us being safe again." As soon as I had the baby against my chest she turned her head, her lips parting as if she were about to verbally tell me she was hungry. Since I was wearing a robe, it was easy to let the sleeve fall off my shoulder to expose my swollen temporary breasts. It only took her a moment to get latched on. I couldn't help the smile that formed on my lips at her contentment as she looked up at me with deep brown eyes like Vic's. "Hi there sweet girl," I cooed softly.

Vic walked into the room, and a smile also tugged at the corner of his lips. "Everyone seems to be settled in now," He went over to the bassinet where Dean and Milo were fast asleep before turning to face Mom,  "Thank you for helping us."
"Of course, I love my grandkids. I also have an idea on how big of an adjustment this has to be for you guys." Boy was she right about that. This is the biggest adjustment I've ever had to go through. I could handle moving, and even going to a new school but having babies was on a separate level. I haven't gotten a full night's rest since they've been born, and I know that's one of many things to come. "Have you showered yet?" Vic asked, coming behind me and wrapping his arms around me. I shook my head, "I almost don't want to leave their side." Vic let his chin rest on my shoulder and he placed a sweet kiss on my cheek. "Once you're done feeding her we'll watch them. Besides, they aren't going anywhere, and I swear to you they are safe. Especially for now, all they do is eat, sleep, and poop so far," he playfully said. It was like he knew exactly what I needed to hear. That did put some of my nerves at ease. "Okay," I nodded. It was another ten minutes later when I finished breastfeeding. "I'll burp her," Mom said with a bright smile, throwing a cloth over her shoulder. Vic's arms found their way around me again. And this time I turned in his hold, my arms finding their way around his neck. His arms tightened around my waist in a comforting hug. I do have to admit although I miss the babies being inside my tummy, I'm happy Vic and I can be physically close again. When we pulled away I said, "I'll go shower now."
"And take your time," Vic insisted.
