"Kellin?" I recognized that voice from anywhere, I reach out for Vic smiling softly when I saw his gorgeous face. His face was written with worry as his hand met mine, and his other using the remote connected to the bed to press the 'Call Nurse' button.
"Why am I in a hospital bed?" I asked Vic squeezing his hand, enjoying the small amount of warmth it gave me.
"You passed out." My boyfriend's eyes were filled with concern as he looked at me.
"I'm okay," I tell him gently, squeezing his hand.
"But what if you're not? You've been sick for a little while Kellin, now that? I'm starting to get really worried about you." The words he wanted to say next were on the tip of his tongue, but instead he begged me with his eyes.
Signing in defeat I let my head hang slightly, "Okay fine...I'll schedule an appointment later.."
Vic then shook his head, he had other plans. "Can you ask about it while we're here? They'll be giving you a check up anyway." The mere thought caused my heart rate to speed in nervousness."Please Kell? I just want you to be okay." He rubbed the dorsal side of my hand. I purse my lips before sighing, and nodding. I watched some of the worry dissipate from those coffee eyes, that comforting me slightly. There was a knock at the door, and my breath caught in my throat.
"Come in!" Vic said for me, and a nurse with dark hair popped her head in.
"Oh good, you're awake! I'll let the doctor know," She gave me a smile before exiting. I let go of a breath I didn't even know I was holding.
"Thank you," Vic pressed a gentle kiss to my head. "Because I told them I didn't exactly know why you passed out." How'd I end up here anyway? We were at Vic's house hanging out and then... I need to see my mom!
"Is my mom okay??" I asked, the heart monitor quickening with the muscle.
"Your family is in the waiting room, and last time they heard she was still in surgery. I told them to call if anything changes. You've only been out an hour," Vic explained calmly. I nodded, taking a little breath.
That has to mean she's at least stable right? I'm so glad the ambulance got there, I hope it was in time. There was a knock at the door and anxiety did the same with my stomach again.
Vic said, "Come in!" A doctor walked in and he smiled at me.
"Hey, look who's awake. I'm Dr. Maverick, how are you feeling?" He walked over to me and flashed a bright light in my eyes.
"A little tired," I responded.
Dr. Maverick tested my motor function as well as checking my heart again before asking me more questions. "Everything looks fine, it seems like was the adrenaline and stress from everything. Let us know if there's anything else that you need checked out." I nodded, taking a breath of relief before remembering I acted too soon because Vic gave me a look that told me to speak up.
"See?" I said to Vic, who slowly narrowed his eyes at me.
Dr. Maverick looked between the two of us before dropping his chin to his chest, looking at me over his glasses. "Is there something else you'd like to talk about?" He asked.
"Um..." I hesitate looking down at my lap.
Let's just get this over with so we can find out that I'm fine and we can go home.
"I've been nauseous and throwing up for about a week or so," I admit playing with Vic's fingers.
"That's not too bad. We can at least take a look and make sure everything's functioning right." It wasn't very long when Dr. Maverick had a nurse bring in what appeared to be an ultrasound machine with other equipment strapped to it."We're just gonna dim the lights here," Dr. Maverick said then came over to me. I watched as the computer came to life. "This stuff is gonna be cold," the doctor informed me while grabbing a tube. He squirted some sort of blue jelly on my stomach before using a wand to spread it. He moved the wand around, we all sat in silence watching the screen.
This is so weird, we can all see the inside of me right now.
"So far so good..." he muttered, bringing the wand lower and lower. I was beginning to relax until I heard him gasp.
"What is it?" Vic asked, and I swallowed hard.
"I-I'm not sure," Dr. Maverick said. We saw a white blob of some sort on the screen. "Um...forgive me for asking, but I didn't see anything on your medical record... Were you born female?"
My eyebrows furrowed. Why would he even ask that? "No, why?"
Instead of answering my question Dr. Maverick cleared his throat, "We'll run some more tests."
What is that inside me? "Is it a parasite?" I asked, he looked at the screen for a few moments before wiping the gel off my stomach.
"We'll figure that out now. I'll send a nurse in to run a few tests. It shouldn't take very long," He tells us before standing and walking out of the room.
