As we pulled into the driveway behind a big gray truck, I noticed we were some of the first people to arrive. I could already hear the music thumping in the large two-story home as we approached the door. Thank god, this place seems like it'll be big enough for all the intoxicated bodies that are about to fill it. The more room, the less I'll have to bump and weave through people, hopefully. Nick knocked, and it didn't take very long for Mike to answer with a cheeky smile, and his joyfulness was made more apparent in his voice, "Aye some of my peoples! Tony and the rest should be here soon too. I'm also glad you and Jenna could make it too!"
How do they know each other? Maybe Mike knows some of her friends. Mike seems like the type to make friends with anyone. The inside proved that the outside did the home no justice. The living room was spacious enough for a dance floor, and I could tell from the furniture lining the walls that they had to move them to make more room. A beautiful golden chandelier with faux candles hung from the ceiling, also allowing me to notice that the upstairs had a balcony so you could still see the main floor."You guys enjoy yourselves. You can have anything in the kitchen," Mike pointed to the kitchen with an open bar area, "you're welcome to the couches, and have fun! Invite more people if you want. As I always say, the more people, the better." Mike chuckled, walking out of the room. Anxiety managed to bury itself deep in my stomach hearing those words. That meant this house might be filled to the brim with people later on.
Jenna leaned over and whispered to me, "What do you think so far?"
"This house is huge, and this party is going to be too," I let out a little sigh, absentmindedly playing with my fingers. It should be fine, I'll find someone to hang out with if I can't cling onto Justin or Jenna. As much as I'd like to stick with them, I won't want to be suffocating either, so I might be confined to the wall if I feel like I'm just taking up space.
"Hey, it'll be fine! This is the time for you to let your social butterfly soar. I'll stick with you for now until Taylor gets here," she smiled, lightly nudging my arm. I guess I should've expected for her to want to be on her own. It's her first time out.
"Okay..." After Taylor gets here, I'll have to find Justin.-
"See you brother!" Jenna waved to me as she began to walk over to a group of girls. I'm guessing she saw Taylor and some more of her friends.
"Bye." I'm exactly where I thought I'd be; a wallflower that people watches. I didn't mind the fact that I was alone. It gave me the opportunity to take in my surroundings and at least get used to being around larger crowds, even if I were socially awkward. The crowd was vibrant, and just like in movies I've seen quite a few people making out in random places too. The thing that shocked me the most was how It didn't matter what type of couple you were here. There was a guy who held a leash in his hand, and connected to it was a boy with green makeup with an outfit to match. They reeked of a smell close to that of a skunks spray, which made a crinkle appear between my eyebrows and on the bridge of my nose. I even had seen a woman with two men at her sides, showering her with affection before giving themselves affection, while she watched with an animalistic look in her dark eyes. The word shocked is an understatement, I'd never seen anything like that before in my life. In person, at least."Hey, Kellin." A voice pulled me from my mind. I could recognize that voice anywhere now, it was Oliver. The taller man looked at me with those pretty eyes, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "That's me," I answered with a soft smile of my own.
"Why are you over here by yourself?" He asked me, leaning against the wall as he folded his arms.
I shrugged, not wanting to admit that I was sort of dumped by my sister and I couldn't find my cousin anywhere in the crowd. "Just by myself." Suddenly his smile warmed, probably delighted to know that I wasn't waiting on anyone. For some reason, Oliver's taken a liking to me. I don't understand why, but I was relieved that someone that wasn't from my cousin's group was able to talk to me. Maybe I'm more approachable than I thought.
"I've been roaming around by myself for a bit too. Funny, we've come across each other again." He ran his fingers through his medium length light brunette hair. "Yeah?" I couldn't help but laugh lightly to slice away some of the thickening tension.
