If Kisses Should Win

Part twenty-two

Elliot was basically running trying to get to the apartment as fast as he could. Me on the other handis 6 and a half months pregnant trying to keep up with him.
"Elliot lord have mercy slow down!"
We had just stepped out of the elevator and he was already at the door unlocking it.
"Sorry..."
He held the door and waited as I made my way over to him. We both went inside and took off our shoes and coats. That's when I realized I was still in my robe. I had complete forgotten that this is what I had thrown on when I got back to my apartment.
"I'm going to go up and change then I'll be down. Sit down and wait, ok?"
Elliot nodded his head and sat down obediently on the couch. He had been bouncing his leg non stop on the way here and continued to do it as he sat down. I have no idea what's going through his head right now but I'm almost 100% sure it's not what he thinks it is.
I changed into a simple t-shirt and pajama pants and headed back down to Elliot. I could tell he was thinking up a whole bunch of radical stories in his head when I saw him. He was chewing on his nails and his eyes darted back and forth.
"Stop that. You told me not to pick at my nails so don't you be chewing on yours."
He took his hand away from his mouth and I plopped down beside him. He turned his body towards me and looked at me anxiously.
"I had gone out to the convenience store around the corner from my building to get some food. I hadn't been living at my apartment for awhile so there was little food there. On my way back I noticed these 3 sketchy guys following me. I tried to walk faster and get to my building or at least duck into a shop with lots of people but of course it was late and there was no stores open on my walk home."
Elliot listened intently as I told him the story of what had happened.
"The guys had gotten closer and I was actually starting to freak out so I got on my phone pretending to call someone in hopes they might leave me alone. They didn't. I was getting ready to actually call someone but they had gotten close enough that they grabbed me."
Elliot flinched. His emotions were all over the place. He was confused scared and I think mad.
"They asked for money and all that good stuff but I only brought enough to pay for what I needed so I didn't have any. They took my phone though. It would have been over there but me and my big mouth couldn't stop and I said something along the lines of "you all are a bunch of lazy bitches who can't get a real job and need to rob an innocent pregnant person" they took that personal and came back."
Elliot snickered.
"You really said that?"
I shook my head yes chuckling with him.
"So they came back and we're going to hit me or something but then this dude came out of nowhere and hit the one over the head knocking him out. The other two got a couple good hits on him before he got one down then the other. I stood there in shock obviously. He then said to me "learn to keep your big mouth shut".
This time Elliot looked a little upset. Most likely over that guy talking to me like that.
"I agreed with him and then I noticed who he was. He was the guy from the hospital. The guy from the bus."
Elliot's brows furrowed. Then his eyes widened.
"I knew he looked familiar! I just couldn't for the life of me place where I had seen him before."
I nodded.
"Yep it was him. I thanked him a million times and offered to help him clean up. So I brought him back to my apartment and helped him clean the cuts that he had gotten. He had some on his chest so that why he had his shirt off. I had gotten blood on my clothes and they were dirty from basically getting dragged down and alley. So I threw on a robe real quick. That's why he was shirtless and I was in a robe."
I placed a hand on his.
"There is no way in hell that I would ever sleep with someone other than you."
Elliot seemed to understand. He nodded and a smile replaced his confused look.
"Ok. And I know. You love me too much!"
That earned him a smack to his arm.
"I do. I really do."
He pulled me in for a kiss.
"I love you Dex."
"I love you too Elli."
