If Kisses Should Win

Part ten

"Who are you?" Elliot had stopped looking at me and was focused on the man who followed me here after the whole bus incident.
"I uh...I'm Lakes." Lakes? That's an interesting name. I guess I don't have much room to talk seeing as my name is Dexlynn.
Elliot looked back towards me giving me a questioning look.
"There was an accident on the bus."
"The bus?! Why were you on the bus?" I should have just taken a cab.
"Well I needed to go back to my apartment to get a different set of clothes for tonight and I thought it would be best to just take the bus but then I realized it probably would have been easier to call a cab-"
"Dex, what happened on the bus?" I looked over at Lakes. Then at Elliot. Elliot would probably get really mad if he knew what really happened.
"The bus was really packed and I fell down."
"Yo- You fell?! On your stomach?!" I nodded and Elliot began to breath heavily.
"Hey listen, it's ok everything will be ok!" I grabbed onto both of his hands and looking him in the eyes.
"Everyone will be alright, the baby and me." He nodded.
"So why is he here?" Elliot pointed at Lakes.
"He offered to walk me here because he was already getting off at the bus stops a couple blocks away. Isn't that nice of him!" Elliot seemed unsure. I could by the way he looked at Lakes. Like he knew I was lying.
It looked like he was going to say something else but a women in a white coat pulled back the curtain.
"Hello...Dexlynn, you fell is that right?" I nodded and came around to the side of the bed Lakes was standing on.
"Which one is your partner?"
"Oh, him." I pointed at Elliot.
"May I ask who this gentleman is?"
"He's a friend." Elliot raised and eyebrow at my response.
"Alright then I'm going to lift your shirt and check your baby out." She gently raised my shirt and pushed on certain areas of my stomach.
"Alright , I'm going to do an ultrasound so I can really make sure."
"Really make sure of what?" I asked her.
"Make sure that your baby is still healthy." I nodded my head and laid back.
"The gel might be a bit cold." She squirted the blue gel onto my belly and grabbed the probe. She ran it over my stomach a couple different places taking some pictures.
"Is the baby ok?" Elliot grabbed onto my hand as he asked.
"The baby looks fine. I can't see any major damage. Could I please talk to the mother and father privately?." Lakes nodded and stepped out.
"Is everything ok?"
"I believe so. I didn't see anything right now but please come back in 5 days so I can check again just to be safe. I also wanted to ask if you would like to know the gender of your baby?"
Elliot and I looked at each other. I never really thought about that. Do I want to know? Does Elliot want to know?
"Do you want to Dex?" I...I don't know.
"Do YOU want to?" Elliot shrugged.
"How about this. I'll write it down on a paper and put it in an envelope and you can open it if you want to or you don't."
I nodded. That's good. That'll work. The doctor left with a smile.
"Can we still go on our date?" Elliot furrowed his brow.
"Why would we go on our date? You need to go home and rest."
"But I'm fine and the baby is fine. We are both fine. I would really like to go on our date." I put on my best begging face. Elliot sighed and dropped his head.
"I just can't say no to you." I laughed.
"Does that mean yes?!" He chuckled.
"Yes we can go on our date." I smiled.
~Flutter~
I dropped my smile.
"Are you ok?! Let me call the doctor." I grabbed onto Elliot's arm. I placed his hand on my stomach.
~flutter~
Elliot's head shot up and he looked at me.
"Is the baby...moving?!"
"I...I think so!" Elliot sat with both of his hands on my stomach smiling from ear to ear. He went from not wanting a single thing to do with me or the baby to now smiling so big about our baby moving. We are growing. Our relationship is growing. Our baby is growing. I'm not sure what the future will hold for us but right now in this moment I love this baby and I think...I love this man.
