I shuffled around the kitchen making Arlo another bottle. He had been changed twice, fed 3 times, and cuddled for an hour from both Elliot and I.
I shook the bottle as I walked back up to the nursery where Elliot had been rocking him for over a half hour.
"Here..."
I handed Elliot the bottle and plopped down harshly on the ottoman that sat across from them. I watched as Elliot tried to feed him but he was just not having it.
"Here, let me."
I stood up and took Arlo from his arms. He wasn't a very big boy. Obviously taking after his mom. I laid him against my chest swaying back and forth humming a sweet tune. He slowly started to calm down and eventually stopped crying.
"He just needed his momma."
Elliot smiled at me and stood up.
"Let's just lay him down in the rocker in our room. If he stays awake at least he's in there with us."
I nodded and followed behind him as we walked back to our room. I gently laid him down and turned on the rocker so it swayed him back and forth. I climbed back into bed with Elliot and put my head against his chest.
I honestly can't believe that that I have a gorgeous partner and an even more gorgeous son. I laid with my eyes closed but a smile on my face thinking about how much has happened in the last 9 months. I felt like I had known his for years not just these few months. I fell back asleep with those thoughts in my mind.
"Babe! Dex!"
I was awoken by Elliot yelling my name from downstairs. I looked over to the swing to see Arlo laying awake peacefully.
"Hello sweethart!"
I carefully picked him up and walked downstairs.
"Elliot?"
He was standing in the front doorway hiding whoever was here.
"Dex..."
His voice almost sounded upset. Who was here? I came around him and saw a police officer standing there.
"What did you do?"
Elliot raised an eyebrow at me.
"You think I did something?"
"Yes! Now what did you do that the police was called?"
The police officer finally spoke.
"I can assure you sir that this is not about your husband but about his mother."
His mother? That witch?
"She was arrested early this morning."
My eyes widened. I looked over to Elliot trying to read his emotions but I could tell if he was mad happy or sad.
"Thank you officer, have a nice day."
Elliot shut the door and turned away.
"Elli...are you alright?"
I gently touched his shoulder. I know she did some pretty horrible things but she was his mother.
He turned back around to me with a huge grin on his face. One of those huge silly Elliot grins. Happy?
"Thank god!"
He wrapped me and Arlo in a hug kissing us both.
"So we are happy about this?"
"Absolutely! That damn witch is finally going to pay for what she did to Josett and what she tried to do to you!"
"So you finally turned her in?"
Elliot stopped.
"I didn't-"
"Oh hush it I saw all of it on your computer, now go make me some breakfast I'm hungry."
He kissed me on top of the head along with Arlo and basically skipped off to the kitchen.
I made Arlo a bottle and sat down with a huff on the couch. Arlo ate well which was surprising. The nurse told us that many newborns struggle to latch on and eat but our son does it perfect.
Some time later Elliot was done with food and we all sat and ate together. I cleaned up while Elliot changed Arlos diaper and clothes.
DING DONG!
Who's here now? I walked over opening it to see Tyler standing there with a gift bag.
"I come bearing gifts!"
I laughed and pulled him into the house.
"Where is my favorite nephew?"
"Elliot is changing him, he'll be down in a second. What did you bring us?"
He handed me three different bags.
"This one is for Arlo, and this one's for you, and this one is for the asshat!"
I glared up at him. At least he brought one for Elliot.
I sat them all down on the table and opened mine. Inside there was a front carrier that Cate must have decorated because there was no way you could buy this anywhere and a denim jacket that read "Momma" on the back.
"Tyler..."
I started to tear up and pulled him into a hug. Elliot came down the stairs with both him and Arlo dressed.
"What's going on?"
"Look!"
I held up the jacket for Elliot to see. He took it in for a moment and a smile spread across his face.
"Did you guys make that?"
Tyler nodded.
"Yep! I even helped!"
I laughed.
"He brought a gift for you and Arlo too!"
Elliot came the rest of the ways down the stairs and opened his gift one handed.
Inside was a tie with both mine and Arlos names written all over it and a denim jacket just like mine but read "Dadda" instead.
"Tyler!"
I was almost full fledge crying now: I'm not even sure why but I've been quite emotional ever since Arlo was born.
We both opened Arlos and in his were a few baby toys and onsies and just like ours a denim jacket that had "baby" on the back.
I ran over to him hugging him tightly.
"These are so adorable! Thank you guys so much!" Once again my emotions got the better of me and I basically broke down crying having to be consoled by both Elliot and Tyler.
After I more or less calmed down Elliot got a phone call. I know what that means, he has to go into work. He came back into the living room where we all had been sitting with a guilty look on his face.
"It's alright, Arlo and I aren't going anywhere and besides Tyler is here."
"I'm sorry."
He gave Arlo and I a kiss and went on his way.
"Does that happen a lot?"
I shrugged.
"Not a lot but sometimes. I completely understand though he can't do much when it's work."
Tyler nodded sticking his hands out for Arlo. He got up and paced around the room slowly patting his back.
"Are you can Cate ever going to have kids?"
"Not until we are out of school. I've had such a hard time trying to schedule classes for this year. Are you going to school this year?"
I hadn't thought about it. Am I? Can I? I mean Arlo will only be 3 to 4 months old. That's still so young to leave him all day. Can I actually go to college?
