If Kisses Should Win

Part thirty-seven

School had started about a month ago and I had actually made some good friends. Ryla and Dottie were cosmetology majors and Garret was a business major. They were all really nice and I later found out that Dottie and Garret were in fact dating and Ryla was single.
Garret was an alpha and Dottie and omega. Ryla surprised me by saying she was a beta. I thought she was an alpha with the way she carries herself.
"You know what?"
Ryla hummed a response.
"I have a person you need to meet."
She gave me a dead stare.
"You aren't trying to set me up are you?"
I shook my head.
"No! She's getting married in a month. You two just seem like you would get along well."
She mumbled a whatever and went back to typing on her phone.
The professor gave us all a goodbye signaling that the class was over. Now I get to go home and see my boys! Arlo turns 4 months old today! He's getting so big...
I walked out with Dottie and Ryla and waited at the bottom of the stairs for Garret. I waited and watched for that blonde head of hair. But when I saw the head of blond hair I also saw a very tall guy with long shaggy black hair and tattoos I know all to well.
That's asshole! I called and called and called and he never ONCE picked up. I clenched my jaw and began to walk over to the pair walking together. Garret was laughing at some stupid joke not paying attention until I was right up next to them.
"Oh hey Dex!"
Garret seemed not to notice my fuming state.
"You!"
I pointed a finger up at Lakes. His eyes widened and he began to walk back the other way.
"You don't get to leave!"
I grabbed a piece of his hair that I was barley able to reach.
"I called! I called over and over you asshat!"
Lakes hunched down in pain grabbing at his head.
"Let go!"
"No!"
"You don't get to do what you did and NOT FUCKING CALL ME!"
"I get it I get it so PLEASE LET GO!"
He tried to pry my hand off of his hair.
"No! I even went to your apartment! And I know you were home because I could smell your goddamn cigarette!"
Lakes had started to push back trying to get me off. I would have let go but I'm pissed! I wanted to talk to him and thank him over and over but he never tried to get back into contact with me.
"Ok! Stop! That's enough! Dex let go of his hair!"
Ryla pulled me off and I looked at the other 2 who had horrified yet confused looks on their faces.
"I have no fucking clue what is going on but how about you take it somewhere else. Or at least be sane about it."
I nodded and took a deep breath. Lakes rubbed his scalp near the place I had a hold of.
We made our way to a little cafe near campus. I thought we were going to talk alone but the 3 stooges followed us and watched our conversation like it was a movie.
"Lakes...I would like to know why you didn't stay in touch. I understand it's only been like 2 months but I thought after the whole ordeal you and I had gotten really close."
He nodded slowly has he took in each word I said.
"I don't know why I didn't keep in contact. I guess I was...jealous?"
I screwed up my face.
"Jealous?! Of what?! Of my crazy ass life?!"
He sighed and dropped his head.
"Of Arlo. I was jealous because of Arlo. You know my whole story about...that and I was just jealous that you had what I had always wanted."
I shook my head and a smile formed on my face.
"Oh you poor idiot. Why didn't you say that?! I would love for you to come over and see him! He misses you!"
"Really?"
"Of course! You can come with me right now and we can go see him!"
A huge smile spread on his face and he got up. We left the cafe and the 3 eavesdroppers behind. I could tell they had SO many questions but it really wasn't any of their business.
As we walked to my car I felt a hand grab at my shoulder.
"Dex!"
It was Garret.
"Who's Arlo? That's the only question we want to know."
I was about to answer but then I stopped myself. Will they think it's weird to have a kid this young? Or the fact that I'm getting married soon?
"He's no one. Just...someone we know."
I noticed Lakes raise an eyebrow at my response.
Garret nodded and realized that that was all he was going to get out of me.
"Don't."
Lakes put his hands up in defense.
"I wasn't going to say anything."
I'll tell them. Probably.

HELOO!!! Another update!!! Like I said before I think the story will stop at 40 or around there. There WILL be an epilogue and some VERY exciting news at the end. ANYWAYS BYE FOR NOW!!!!
