Chapter 8- Reawakened Wrath

( Guys, updates might be slow for a while, maybe 3 chapters per week, since some important things are coming up in real life. But still, I'll keep trying to update regularly.)

Lumine POV

Lumine was filled with a weird mixture of dread and exhilaration. Dread because of the release of the oceanic god, Osial. And Exhilaration because her seal was almost broken. 

Thoughts were whirling through her head at light speed as she ran through the streets. Will Osial have changed? How will we fight him? Do the Qixing have a plan? Will we have help? Will I even need to interfere?

Tremors started to shake the ground, making it hard to go through the roads. Frustrated, she decided to use her otherworldly teleportation, arriving at the Jade Chamber within seconds. She was surprised to see the adepti there too. Carver, Retainer, Shaper, and Xiao too. 

Xiao stepped forward, and said in a harsh tone, "Why are you here?"

Paimon seemed confused and asked, "Huhh? Are the Qixing and Adepti working together?" Ningguang stepped forward, and said, "Faced with a calamity of such great magnitude, yes, we have decided to put our differences aside for a while." Moon Carver humphed. Seriously, what is it with adepti and their huffing? Also, she hadn't failed to notice that Xiao didn't seem to be at all pleased to see her. Well, not her problem.

Without hesitation, she asked Ningguang, "Do we have a plan?" "Not yet" Ningguang admitted. As she said this, three huge tornadoes rose from the sea. The waves turned choppy, rising to great heights. Her hands fisted, as she tried to tame it. She could, of course, but the water dying down all of a sudden would be too suspicious. She calmed it just enough that it wouldn't drown Liyue.

Cloud Retainer interrupted them. "There is a way, for the Qixing seems to have forgotten the Guizhong Ballista, which one has indeed made with one's own hands. A little tinkering would turn it into an incredible weapon of war, beyond what you mortals could dream." "Well, if it works, then we can give it a try." Ningguang mused. "Of course it will, it is an adeptal machine made by oneself!" Ganyu said, "We have no time to waste. He is attacking."

Xiao POV

Outside, he had been as harsh and cynical as ever. On the inside though, he was freaking out on how to face Lumine normally. But, as the 5 great heads of Osial reared themselves, he drove those thoughts aside to concentrate on the menace in front.

Ningguang stepped forward, followed closely by Keqing, Ganyu, Madame Ping, the other adepti, himself included, and Lumine. He wondered if he caught a hint of sadness in her eyes, but it was swiftly replaced by determination. A scary kind of determination.

They all glowed with geo energy. Ningguang's doing probably. The Guizhong Ballista appeared, shimmering golden. Ningguang raised her hands, then activated some sort of mechanism of the Jade Palace, creating an extended platform. Carver, Retainer, and Shaper took their respective places by the Ballistas. The others covered them. Everything seemed to be going according to plan. Until it didn't.

Portals opened in the air. Within moments, they were swarmed by Fatui. Fatui? What were they doing here? They started attacking the Ballistas. Cloud Retainer angrily flapped her wings. Immediately, he, Keqing, Lumine, and Ganyu started fending them off. He tried to not use his ultimate. But as it turned out, there was no need. The others made sure of that, each taking out almost as many of the pests as he did. At some point of time, Ganyu gave some of her powers to Lumine, increasing her survival capability. Madame Ping gave her own. He sighed. If they had given her their powers, it was only right that he did it too. After all, he didn't really want Lumine to die. With three kinds of adeptal energy coursing through her, she seemed to have become extremely powerful.
