In the wake of that last encounter, you spent the next few days resting whenever the opportunity allowed. Your head still had a slight throb up until now. The absent requirement of taking an ibuprofen made printing out the latest addition to the Yokai Gazette. For the new article to kick off the new semester, your piece was a summary of the Newspaper Club's experiences in the human world and Witch Hill. Of course, you did keep a few details vague. Monster identity was not that much of an issue owing to the circumstances dictating the parties needed to be in monster mode to fight. What you did leave out was your Mystic Eyes, referring to Saber as close family and your Mage status. At the very least, it made for a fun read for the audience.
In fact, a good amount of your articles thus far was going over the several incidents at school. You hesitated to do so, but after being the one to write about Gin being the peeper and vindicating Tsukune, it became easier. Several incidents did come to mind like the student council members attempted bullying of Yukari. Perhaps the most daring one so far was the one detailing the incident with the Swim Club. Oddly enough, you did not get any backlash from the mermaids or really any feedback. The students seemed to treat this life threatening event as a normal occurrence.
The interesting aspect of distributing newspapers came when Kurumu's determination to complete the task was second only to her desires to Tsukune. The degree of which was when she told the boy to focus on the paper rather than Mizore trying to get him to call her "Snow Bunny."
This continued further when you and Kurumu walked towards the gates to the school proper to hand out the newspapers. That was when you noticed something unusual.
"Huh, there's quite a crowd already." You noted.
"What's going on?" Kurumu muttered. You carefully examined the students. They were holding a newspaper. It was not one of the club's editions. Kurumu scowled and pushed her way to the source. Three girls were passing out this other newspaper.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing?! We're the Newspaper Club!" Kurumu shouted in anger.
"Don't worry, we're an official club too." One girl reassured.
"What club would that be?" You asked.
"The Super Newspaper Club." Another voice turned your attention to a senior female student with dark purple hair, holding documentation. "And I'm Keito, the club's President."
"How original." You quipped at the title.
"More like appropriate. We found your papers to be so boring we choose to make one of our own." Keito sneered. She motioned to the three members handing their papers out. The three girls followed their President away from the gates.
"Well... that being said, Yokai Gazette?" You held out a newspaper to some of the students.
"No thanks." One girl shook her head. "Black and white isn't as good as color."
"And you don't have any swimsuit photos." A guy waved the newspaper page showing as much. The crowd dispersed with the rival paper in their hands.
"Really? Going for the low hanging fruit? I think Sports Illustrated is going to sue someone." You remarked.
"Huh?" Kurumu naturally did not get the reference.
"A human sports magazine. They annually have an issue exclusively for swimsuits." You explained. "And something's off with that Keito girl. Let's go figure out what to do about this."
Though you felt as if you were being unfair in your judgment. Yes, Keito was giving you the creeps, but you were not sure if it was just the purple hair. Someone you knew back home had that same hair color. She also became just a slight bit unsettling sometimes. Even so, that was not fair.
