Years later, you were in your study in the Tohsaka house. The subject of which was more Kaleidoscopic notes from Zeltretch. Much as what Mom had found out, the life of the magician's pupil was rough if not completely insane. He frequently made hops through the parallel worlds on nothing but a whim. The ancient man could be as formal as sending letters through dimensions to reach your family, or as informal as accompanying him for fast food.Attaining an understanding of the Second Magic alone is difficult. It was not like you could just snap your fingers and bam! Zeltretch's origins dated thousands of years during the Age of Gods. Any specific notes or process to attaining Kaleidoscope as a result were lost, never mind that he would not be so forthcoming so easily. So using these notes that were present were part of your own research into Kaleidoscope.
Admittedly, the inspiration most certainly came from a certain franchise. Mystic Eyes could see death lines in any object. One Trace, and it is cut. So now the thought process was what if you could apply it to the dimension? Or in very simple terms, developing the eyes to the point where you could cut through dimensions.
You stood up and took off your glasses, facing the open area of your study. The usual death lines and points showed themselves on various objects. But you focused on the air in front of you, scanning, straining for a glimpse. At last, a small shimmer.
You instantly slashed a knife in your hand through the line. Except it was gone. This was the first lesson of dimensions in this state. Unlike objects, their lines were in a constant flux. Timing had to be almost literally instantaneous. Even you, with slight superhuman augmentation courtesy of your wife's blood, were still too slow.
'Time Alter: Square Accel!'
Even through the pain, when the sliver appeared, it was much slower. You cut again, then undid the spell.
Despite the painful side effects of both, you saw it. A black oval hole highlighted by glowing blue edges opened up. Then after a few seconds, it closed itself. New established rule: The dimension will heal itself, nor will any significant damage occur.
Well that was enough for the day. There were going to be important visitors today. For this reason, research was over early. The people coming were more important than mere Magecraft. So you went downstairs to the common area in the Tohsaka manor.
"You're looking beat up."
The voice belonged to one Moka residing on the sofa. An advantage she had even well into adulthood was she would never look her age. Years later and the only serious change was gaining the looks of a young adult woman. Avalon and having her blood in you did wonders for keeping you young as well.
No longer a student, Moka still preferred skirts, albeit much longer ones now for multiple reasons, and a buttoned shirt. Simply put, she kept to her image of a proud, elegant vampire. That said, she did have a secret stash of stuffed plushies and teddy bears, at least some of which were gifts or prizes you got for her.
(Author's Note: This not my take. Moka legit likes cute stuffed animals, though one could imagine her reaction if anyone not close to her would find out)
"The good news is that it's working. I actually landed a cut." You told your wife, joining her.
"Then rest up Hon. You can't look haggard in front of company, even the familiar." Moka told her husband.
"You have something in mind Wifey?"
"Yeah." Moka cuddled up to you, arms wrapping around your side while she nuzzled into your neck. She gently bit down on it, taking only a small amount before kissing it closed, and then repeated her kisses gently to help soothe you. One hand found itself playing with your hair on top of that. In turn, you chose to have one arm around her waist and gently massaged her stomach with your hand.
