CHAPTER FIFTY-TWO - A Bargain against Fate

ZENAIA gritted her teeth as she blasted Billius with another round of black flames. Yet, he simply waved his hand and the flames immediately disappeared into thin air. He is not even trying to attack her, he is just deflecting her attacks and was still busy trying to get his hands on the sins.

Alam na niya kung ano ang plano nito. He wants to consume the sins as well. Ngunit hindi niya iyon mapapayagan. She has been doing her best to protect them while also fighting him. The sins have already received fatal injuries, they are not healing, and they can no longer fight him. She has to do something. She has to stop him and save them.

Muli niyang ginamit ang kapangyarihan para pigilan ang mga maliliit na itim na bolang pinakawalan nito nang makarinig din siya ng mahinang pag-ubo. It sounded like Veseva has finally regained consciousness, but the woman is muttering something that is too low for her to understand.

Bahagya siyang nawalan ng balanse nang iwasan niya ang isang ligaw na bolang itim na muntikan ng tumama sa kanya. She dodged it and went after him again. She was just momentarily distracted and yet, he almost had her. She doesn't know what his powers could do to her yet, but she wouldn't take her chances.

So far, he hasn't done anything or tried to harm her.

"It is not too late to give up your freedom, Zenaia. Believe me, I am only doing this for your own good."

She scoffed. "You will never fool me again, Zurin. Leave Billius' body while I'm still being nice, or I will make sure that you will never even be able to leave this place at all."

The man just gave her a blank stare. "Zurin... is already gone. It's me, Zenaia."

Muling nagngalit ang kanyang mga ngipin.

"You even dare try to immitate him? Hinding-hindi talaga kita mapapatawad!"

Zenaia's eyes narrowed when Billius suddenly vanished. She raised her guard up and searched for his presence only to freeze upon sensing him appearing right behind her. Her eyes widened when she felt his strong arms circled around her waist and pulled her against his strong body.

"It's me," he whispered deeply against her right ear.

A cold shiver run down her spine, an unexplainable fear coating her whole being upon sensing Billius' own presence, which has already gone dark, too dark to be exact.

"Zenaia! No!" someone screamed in fear from the ground.

B-But, why would he? Why would Billius take over the dark side? She asked herself upon confirming that it is indeed Billius and not her brother, Zurin.

She tried to struggle and pull away but Billius didn't even budge. He is a lot stronger than her. She couldn't even hurt him directly. She has been trying to attack him, but for some reason, all her attacks just couldn't reach him. Ang akala niya ay sadyang naiiwasan lamang nito ang mga atake niya. The truth is, all her attacks were half-hearted and lacked the intention to hurt or kill him.

"You can still go back and live the life you want, Zenaia. You just have to let me take what was stopping you," Billius continued.

Warm tears build in her eyes.

"No," she refused firmly. "I now understand what you were planning, and I will never let you do that."

There was a brief moment of silence before he responded.

"I gave you a promise. I cannot break it," he said through an emotionless tone. He raised his right hand and moved towards her core, where her sin is.

Pain surged in her heart as she understood what he meant but still refused to accept it. She closed her eyes tightly shut, causing her tears to flow down her pale cheeks.
