The group named by Lazlo as the Injustice League sat at a large table in the cafeteria. A lot had changed since their initial meeting a week ago. For starters, Monique seemed to have come out of her shell and was the type of funny that didn't mean to be, but her naïveté was just so adorable. Her relationship with Seth and Max seemed to have strengthened tenfold and it brought a happy smile to Aslan and Freya's faces.
Then there was Aslan and Jonah. At the end of the day Aslan wanted to make everyone happy especially her mate and acted accordingly. They seemed to be back on good terms, but her siblings saw through the bullshit.
Seth hated the werewolf and it showed. He was made aware of both Aslan's bruise that still wasn't healing and the manner in which Jonah talked to her in their home and the fight with their Pop. He was ready to end the wolf's life if it weren't for Aslan's incessant begging and tearful pleas.
Aslan knew she could only keep her fathers and brother away for so long. The fact was that Jonah hurt her. He was continuing to hurt her with his insecurities and lack of trust. Aslan wasn't like her siblings most times. She didn't speak up for herself. She didn't like the negative attention she felt it garnered. Aslan laid low and tried to get by off the radar by just doing the expected or requested, but that wouldn't fly in her current situation and she knew it.
Freya was clueless to the daggers being stared into the side of her skull. She was too busy smiling at her phone and texting away. Avery and her were getting closer and Philip could tell. He was livid about the whole thing, but he knew he had no right to be. Lazlo told him as much every hour on the hour.
"Stop staring. You look like more of a creep than you already are." Philip glared at his best friend. He was going to say something, but was cut off by his mate. "There's a party happening Friday night after the game." Max looked at Freya with a smile. "Whose party?"
"Zetas. Are you guys interested?" Lazlo looked at her with a mischievous grin. "Who told you about the party?" Philip further fumed knowing he didn't need to hear the confirmation, but still wanted to know.
"My friend Avery. He says the Zetas throw the best parties here." Philip's head snapped up. "How would he know?" He asked before stopping himself. "He's a junior." Freya replied with a cheeky smirk that made Philip want to both spank her and kiss her. "I'm in." Aslan said with a shrug. "Me too." Jonah and Monique said in unison causing the angel to chuckle.
"You can get ready with us, Monique." Freya said with a smile. "We'll all just meet at our house beforehand then." Seth instructed before getting up. "Let's get this day over with. My dad told me my mom is back, so we'll finally get some answers."
Seth held out his hands to his mates before squeezing them and walking off. Aslan began walking with Freya before she was stopped. "Can we talk, Aslan? Please." Freya gave her a quick squeeze before heading to class with a chipper Lazlo and a brooding Philip.
"I'm sorry." Aslan interrupted him. "There's nothing to be sorry for. You've apologized and I've forgiven you. Let's just move on." Jonah heard her words, but he felt her. He knew she wasn't okay and held some anger and fear towards him.
"I'll be better." Jonah said before pulling her into his arms. Aslan let herself melt into him. She chose to believe his words and hoped that moving forward things would be copasetic. They made their way to class hand in hand with smiles on their faces.
They all finished their classes before heading to the Draven household. Harlow had them sit in the living room and ensured they were all comfortable. "Do you guys want a drink or snack?" Seth huffed. "Mama, you're stalling. Is it really that bad?" Harlow sighed before ringing out her fingers.
