I quickly stamp my duke’s seal on the envelope and push it towards Mary for her to deliver to the prince. She rushes out, probably sensing my nervousness and need for immediate action.

Meanwhile, I rummage through my clothes to find something appropriate to meet with my father. I should definitely tell him about this so he can protect me if the worst comes to worst. Luckily, Mary fixed my hair earlier and I’m now wearing a cute floral patterned bow to hide the bump. I slip into the most comfortable pair of heels I own and run like it’s no one’s business to my father’s office. He should still be there since it was payday for the servants so he needs to double-check and make sure he paid everyone correctly and stuff.

Passing my many servants, I reach my father’s study. I knock twice for courtesy but immediately enter since I am his daughter. My father, who btw is also a natural platinum blond, looks up from his massive pile of paperwork and smiles brightly, his teeth almost as bright as the sun.
“My baby!” He stands up to give me a big hug. I hug him back quickly then shove him off.
“Hi, daddy. Sorry to barge in, but this is an emergency!” I rapid-fire my thoughts and details about my current situation, omitting the part where I gained my past memories. His face changes from happiness to anger to confusion.
“Oh, I see… Really?... You want to do it now?...” He responds as I inform him of my plans.
“Don’t worry, my baby. I will make sure nothing comes to harm for you! I will back you up no matter what the king says.” He reassures me and pats my head. I smile, relieved that I have gained a strong ally.
“Anyways, so I just need you to be the best duke and also maybe find me a nice bodyguard if I need to attend the party.” I conclude my thoughts. My father nods in understanding.
“That is no problem, I have been thinking of assigning you one ever since you were chosen to be Prince Orion’s fiance. Dangers lurk everywhere for royalty and their spouses.” He rings the bell on his desk and an attendant quickly comes in.
“Yes, my lord, how may I help you?” The smartly dressed attendant asks.
“I need you to fetch me a list of our most skilled knights. I am assigning one of them to protect my daughter. This is of utmost importance and needs to be done immediately! Go!” My father orders and the attendant is already out the door as the last of my father’s words were spoken.

I bid my father goodbye as there is some preparation I need to do before I enact my plan, and also waiting for the prince’s reply. The dukedoms aren’t that far from the main castle so I should get a reply in a few hours at max. Hopefully, my father can do his part so that I can smoothly escape the engagement and hopefully avoid the party disaster.
