We finally returned back to my humble abode (guest room). Mary places the gardenias we picked on the table closest to the window. The white flowers gently sway with the breeze that escapes from the crack in the window.
"Mmm.." Henry lays me gently on my bed. The fluffy softness welcomes my tired bones. I can barely stay awake, trying my best to allow Mary to fix my hair and change my clothes.
"..Thanks.." I drowsily say.
"Don't worry about attending dinner tonight, I've already sent word to let the royal family know." Mary informs me. I slowly nod, snuggling deeper into the covers.
"Have a good rest, my lady." Henry smiles, arranging my pillow to better fit my head.
"..yea..." Sleep finally takes me and I fall straight into the welcoming darkness.
"Mmm..." I turn around a little, trying to find a more comfortable spot. The room feels a bit chilly, due to the opened window, but my body heat creates a comfortable hot spot in the blankets so only my exposed head feels cold. As I fall back asleep, the door to my room burst open.
"My lady, wake up! It's time to prepare!" Mary's loud voice echoes throughout my room. I groggily turn to see her pushing a cart full of food, with Henry tagging along. Feels familiar..
"Hello, my lady. Had a good sleep?" Henry greets me with his drop-dead gorgeous smile and ravishing looks. His dashing attire of dark navy blue washes away any leftover sleep I may have as I quickly rise from my bed to get a better look. His uniform is tight and stretchy, hinting at his firmly developed muscles and the colors compliment his nicely pressed hair. I admire how the ornaments and padding of his uniform only increase his manly charms. I could look at this man all day and not get bored, he's too handsome!
"My lady, wake up and get over here! Eat something and then we need to get you ready!" Mary yells at me from afar. She sets up the table with food and silverware, arranging the dishes with ease.
"Sir Henry, go bring that chair over here. You know the drill." Mary orders Henry, who nods. I drag my body over to sit at the table of freshly steaming food. The aromas are welcoming and my stomach starts to rumble as I scan over the wonderful assortment Mary brought. I gulp.
"This is a great spread! I didn't think you would let me eat all of this before attending the ball." I exclaimed, reaching over to grab some pastries in a basket. They are soft to the touch and notes of butter linger on my fingertips. Yummy!
"That would be the case, but since you did a lot of activity yesterday and skipped dinner, I thought it would be bad to continue to starve you. Your father would kill me if he knew I starved you for a full day." Mary places pieces of food onto my plate and pours a glass of light pink liquid.
"Hmm. How much time do we have before the ball starts?" I take a sip of the liquid, it's lemonade!
"Only five hours, barely enough time." Mary places more food on my plate."Hurry up and eat. We need to start immediately." She shoves a big bite into her mouth. I sigh but take just as big of a bite. So unladylike! Henry chuckles at our performance.
"Oh Henry, are you sure you don't want to participate in the competition? I think it would be exciting to see you in action." I look toward him.
"Yes, I don't want to intrude and if there is an attack, I want to be near you." Henry says. Oh.
"Ah, well.." My face heats up slightly at his blunt words. I don't think he actually means that, or maybe he does..?
"Hmm. My lady, your fork is slowing down. Keep eating!" Mary orders. Ahhhhhh.
After breakfast, Mary helps me get ready. We wash my body with scented soaps and oils. Brush and tease my hair into place. Fixed my nails and sent a servant to double-check the preparations for the horse riding competition. Gotta make sure everything is ready!
"What dress do you want to wear, my lady? I'm thinking of going light pink or yellow to match the theme of spring." Mary suggests, bringing out two fluffy dresses, layered with silk and ribbons.
"Hmm, let's go with something that is a little more breathable and shorter. I'll be walking around managing the competition. I don't want to get it dirty accidentally." I wave off the two long flowing dresses.
"Do you have any suggestions, Henry?" I turn towards Henry, who was been patiently waiting all this time. I don't know how these people can just stand for hours, doing nothing.
"I don't know much about clothing, my lady." Henry states.
"Well that's okay, do you have any preferences for color at least? Purple? Red?" I list off colors.
"Um, what of that one?" Henry points to a light baby blue dress. It's simple but elegant and slim. And not too long.
"Oooh, you have good eyes, Sir Henry!" Mary brings out the light blue dress. I forgot that I had this one. My father gifted me this awhile ago, saying it matched my eyes.
"Not too short, but also not too long. Elegant, but simple. And it matches your eyes, my lady! This is perfect! And we can remove the attaching shawl to make it breathable!" Mary excitedly speaks.
"Okay, let me try it on and see." I take the dress. The fabric is soft and light. I didn't want to wear this dress initially because it is a slim fit so I would be showing off my nonexistent curves. Hah, I mean, I'm not flat as a board, but I ain't no sexy demon. I don't got those melons...
The dress fits perfectly on my body, with some ruffles and ribbons scattered throughout the design, making it feel flowy and open. I didn't notice before, but there's a small slit on the left, giving even more flexibility and increasing my sexiness. Heheh.
"Well, what do you guys think?" I step out to reveal my outfit, doing a little twirl to show the ruffles.
"Ooh, the open back with the slit is so provocative! Oh, let's remove that strap to make it shoulderless to increase sex appeal!" Mary squeals, pinching and pulling the dress, adjusting it to her liking.
"Oh, I didn't notice the open back." I tried to turn around, but my lack of flexibility prevents me.
".....Don't you think it's too revealing?" Henry finally speaks, a hand over his mouth.
"Um, not really, since it's outdoors, many dresses will be more revealing to match the season." I recollect.
"I see." Henry nods.
"But do you think it looks nice?" I ask again.
"Wait! Don't answer that, Sir Henry! Let me do your makeup first and then we can decide!" Mary interjects.
"Huh? But don't we want to try on more before doing my makeup?" I mean, it's a good dress, but is it the one? Shouldn't we try on a bit more before deciding? This is the first dress I tried!
"NO, no! I think this is THE ONE! Hurry! Sit down! Let me do your makeup and see the final product!" Mary pushes me to the vanity.
