Butter

Chapter 32

I awoke to a dim light cutting across the bed. I was still lying down with my legs dangling off. I adjusted myself and sat up, the blankets forming a crater around me. I glanced at the door, which was slightly ajar. My dress was stiff and now a dark brown. I put my hand to my hair and combing my fingers through it. I untangled a knot and stood up. My back ached from the weird sleeping position. I slowly made my way out the door and went down to the cafe. I walked over and caught sight of two figures. Ken and Adam were sprawled on the cafe benches, completely asleep. I muttered a command and checked the time based on the where the sun was. It was early morning, right after the sunrise. I went over to Ken and Adam and shook them wildly. They looked at me in a mix of confusion. "What? What?! Stop it!" screamed Ken. He flailed his hands in the air, swiping at anything in his path. Adam merely grumbled to himself and sulked off the bench. "Boys." I cleared my throat, "we are going back to my house." They muttered curse words to themselves. "Whatever." Ken hissed, rubbing his eyes furiously. Ken got up and wandered over to the door. "Let's go." He said. "Come on Adam." I yelled.

We all got into our minecarts and began our journey home. The carts shuddered to a start and accelerated is forward on the track. I watched as the resort grew smaller and smaller. Ken had already dosed off and his legs hung out of the minecart. I looked back at Adam who was riding behind me. He was scanning the area as if he had never seen it. I focused my attention on my watch interface. I sent a quick mail to Louis who was manning the house, telling him that we were coming back. I smiled to myself and surveyed the server. The scenery was beautiful and I couldn't help but feel happy for having the privilege to run this amazing server. My thoughts drifted from many subjects and before I knew it we had arrived at spawn. Ken was still asleep as always and Adam looked bored. I spawned in a small glass of water. Carefully, I held the water over Ken's head and tipped it upside down. The water gushed out of the glass right onto Ken's head. "Butter! Stop. Ugh." He swatted at me and struck the cup out of my hand. The cup flew into a bush and I heard a faint shattering sound. Ken stormed out of the minecart and shook his shirt furiously in attempt to dry it.

All three of us walked to my mansion. The birch walls were dirty and the birch was peeling off into paper. I ran my hand on the ledge of the porch and we all entered the house. "I'm back!" I yelled. My voice echoed through the house. It felt weird in a way to be home without Lars by my side. I'd grown so accustomed to him in the short days we had known each other. Gen poked his head out the upstairs balcony. "Butter!" He called down, and bolted down the steps. He ran into me and gave me a bear hug. A smile took over my face and I hugged him back. "Where's Lars?" He asked. "Long story," I answered quickly, "we broke up." Gen's smile left his face. "Oh." He managed. Ken and Adam were completely in awe by the house. "And who are they?" Gen asked, gesturing to Ken and Adam. "This is Ken and this is Adam." I pointed to them. Alexis popped her head out from the lounge area. "Hey guys!" She said. Then her eyes stopped at Adam. I could see a twinkle glitter in her eye from across the room. Adam noticed Alexis and smiled back. His cheeks turned a shade redder. Alexis came over to us and gave me a hug. "Welcome!" She said, spreading her arms out to beckon them in. "Thank you." They both muttered.

We all settled down in the dining room. Danie brought all of us small plates of beef and we ate happily. "So," commented Gen, stuffing his face with a chunk of meat, "Are we ready to kick this Wither's butt or not?" Everyone laughed at his joke and continued eating. I glanced over at Adam who was smiling every time Alexis did something. His eyes were now the color violet. The Wither had left him.
