After I hung up on the phone with Ava, I walked into my room and fixed my hair a little bit. I mean, I wanted to look good for her.

She said just chill so I put on my Adidas pants with a black tee shirt and some basic tennis shoes. I walked out the door and headed for Ava's.

She lived in my neighborhood so I walked just about 4 houses down. I knocked on her door and waited a little bit for her to answer.

When she opened the door, she looked so perfect. Even without makeup and her hair up with pajamas on, so perfect.

She didn't have a big smile on her face like usual, but it was still there.
"Hey Cameron." She said.

"Hey." I said and walked in. She shut the door and looked at me.

Her face was sad. She looked tired and emotionally drained.

I opened my arms to let her come into a hug. She gave me a slight smile and came up to me while I wrapped my arms around her small torso.

She leaned her head against my chest and her arms were wrapped around my waist.
"Thank you Cameron." She whispered.

"It's okay." I told her.

I released her out of my grip.

"Now, what can I do to get your mind off of things?" I told her.

"Not sure." She answered with a sigh.

"Movie? Music? Board games? Cooking? Sleeping? Talking? What do you prefer?"

"Uh, I kinda just want to talk about it to you. Fill you in on all of it." She told me and played with a friendship bracelet on her wrist.

"Okay. Sounds good to me." I told her and sat on the couch.

"Tell me everything." I said.

"Well, I just need to tell you how I feel. I feel completely broken. Like I will never be whole again. I will never be able to be completely happy without him.

I also feel like a complete idiot. Matt has a reputation to do this, but he pulled me in and made me feel special. He made me feel loved.

I told him all about me. He knows everything. I really trusted him. And that's what I regret the most.

Love isn't trustworthy."

A tear fell from her eye. I took my thumb and wiped the tear off of her cheek.

"I can't say that I understand how you feel. I have never truly been in love like how you loved Matthew." She stopped me.

"Not loved. Love. I still love him. I don't know why either. All he has done is hurt me."

"I know. I'm sorry. You all were together for a while. You two did have a good connection. I could always see it. Don't worry. This is just a rough patch. You will get back on track soon." I told her.

"I will always be her for you. You can trust me."

"Thank you for being such an amazing friend to me Cameron. I really am thankful for you."

Right. Friend.

"No problem Ava. I love you."

"I love you too."

I didn't mean it in a friendly way. But she did.

Although I would rather be friends with Ava than have no Ava.

I really did love her.

"Do you want to listen to some music?" She asked me.

"Yeah, I'll go turn some on." I told her as I got up and pressed Pandora.

Fall For You by Secondhand Serenade began to play. Ava began to sing right when it came on.

She had a beautiful voice. I could hear her sing all day.

"Ava, your voice is beautiful."

She looked at me and began to blush.
"Oh uh, thank you Cameron."

"Sing more."

She paused and listened to the music.

"Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you over again, don't make me change my mind. I won't live to see another day I swear it's true.

Because I girl like you is impossible to find, your impossible to find."

She looked at me and smiled.
"I missed that smile." I told her.

She did a small giggle. Everything about Ava was amazing. Even her laugh. I can't believe some one would hurt her. She was broken.

And I am here to fix her.

For a while more, Ava and I sang, danced a little, and laughed a lot. It was about 11:00 so I decided to go.

"Than you Cameron for cheering me up. It feels good!" She said and walked with me towards the door.

"I'm glad to see you smile." I answered.

"I guess I will talk to you tomorrow?"

"Sounds like it." I answered.

"Okay, thanks again Cameron." She said giving me a hug and I left.

I'm glad I can be Ava's friend and be there for her.

But let me say one thing.

The friend zone sucks.
