Ch.29

The next morning, I woke up and got ready for school.

I was feeling a little lazy, so I put my hair in a side braid and wore some leggings with a long sleeve loose black shirt and a white polka dot scarf.

When I walked out the door, I saw Cameron.

His hair was pushed up in the front and he was wearing some adidas pants with a black tee shirt that had some Roman numerals in the corner. He looked nice.

"Hey Cameron!" I said and waved.

He looked over at me and smiled.
"Hey Ava, want a ride?" He asked.

"Uh, sure!" I said and hopped into his car.

"Have you talked to Matt lately?" He asked me.

"Uh, no. He has tried to talk to me and I just said I need some time."

Cam nodded his head.
"He is in my 4th period class and he wasn't in there yesterday."

"Yeah, he ditched. He said he was sad."

Cameron raised his eyebrows.
"Oh."

"Look, him skipping isn't that big of a deal. He does it all the time. Don't worry about it." I answered.

Cam nodded as we pulled into school.

When we walked in, I looked and saw Matt again at my locker. Same sadness as yesterday, but a little worse.

"Ava please talk to me." He said. His voice was quiet and sad.

"What do you want me to say?" I told him.

"I need to know that you still love me."

"Matt, can we not talk about this here." I said.

"Tonight?" He asked me.

"I can't tonight, I'm busy." I told him.

I really wasn't busy, but I didn't want to spend my afternoon with Matt.

He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck,

"I really need you, I can't even focus without you."

"I'm sorry." I told him and walked to class.

I turned around and looked at the disappointment in his face. He really did look like he missed me.

Was I doing the right thing by shutting him out?

I walked into the room and sat next to Molly. She gave me a dirty look when I sat down. She hasn't liked me ever since Matt left her.

"What was that for?" I asked her when she rolled her eyes.

"Uh, isn't it obvious? I don't like you." She replied in a rude tone.

"What did I do?" I asked.

She turned around and looked at me. When she did that I saw Matt walk in the door.

"I don't like you because you took my boyfriend away from me. I don't know why either because honestly I'm a whole lot better than you. You are only good for your smarts. I honestly don't know why he likes you. You're an ugly slut."

I felt my eyes start to tear up. I opened my mouth to say something when Matt tapped on Molly's shoulder.

She turned around almost slapping me in the face with her long hair.

"Molly, Ava is the most beautiful, kind, sweet, and amazing person in the world. She is the opposite of what you described. If anything, all you did was describe yourself. I don't know whatever you are thinking. Ava is the most amazing girl in the world and nothing can change that."
