September 27, 1968
It was Saturday afternoon, I was alone in the street. I had to buy furniture because I had started living on my own.
I walked through the streets with a heavy bag of stuff, it started to rain and thunder.
A boy with a very small guitar in his hands greeted me. I greeted back with an awkward smile. Can someone help with this very heavy bag?
Suddenly I lost my strength and let the heavy bag fall to the floor, lying down myself.
The friendly boy put his guitar aside and ran as quickly as possible to help me.
"Oh miss, let me help you. You look sweaty, come, have your bag lifted. It's raining and thundering hard, behind me is a restaurant. Let's have coffee together."
I stood up and looked at the scrape on my knee. "Ah, that doesn't look good." Said the boy with an uneasy face."Thank you." I smiled. The friendly boy winked and took my bag, we walked to the restaurant to recover.
"Take a seat, I'm going to arrange our coffee." Said the nice boy as he pulled my chair back.
I sighed and looked at my leg again, it started to bleed quite a bit. I grabbed a paper napkin to stop the bleeding.
The nice boy returned with a tray in his hands, with two cups of coffee.
He sat down neatly at the table and took the cup of coffee from the tray. "What were you planning to do with those heavy bags, if I may ask, young lady?" The boy asked as he stirred his tea.
I got shy. "I now live on my own, and I had bought some furniture." I told.
"How wonderful, where exactly do you live? Close by?" The boy asked.
"I live 5 miles from here." I sighed. My knee ached a bit.
The boy saw me through the pain. "Shall I take you home and lift your heavy bags? I came here on my own bicycle."
Seriously, this is the first time in my life that I've been asked out by a guy."I would love that so much, I really appreciate it!" I said with a happy tone in my voice!
The boy took a sip of his coffee, "So uh, what's your name anyway?" The boy asked nicely.
"My name is Heather." I smiled shyly. "And your name?" I asked.
"My name is David Robert Jones, and what a lovely name you have. Fits well with your beautiful face." He said as he blushed a little.
I giggled, "Ohh haha, thank you David!" I said as I finished my hot coffee.
The rain and thunder had stopped. David looked out the window with shining eyes. "It's dry now."
"Finally!" I said excitedly.
Minutes later, David and I were outside. David put his guitar in his bag and turned the key in his bike lock. "Give me your heavy bags." Said David boldly.
David sat on his bike, I sat on the back with him. "Let's get you home quickly, Heather!" He sang a little. "I'm really, really grateful, David." I said as I gave David a little hug on his back to hold him.
"I saw you walking before, and you seemed to be having a hard time in your facial expression, I wanted to ask you a favor if you had any help." David said as he pedaled a little faster.
By now we had arrived at my house. "Here it is!" I pointed to the house. "Wow, you live near me! Is that just a coincidence!" David said as he got out and took the heavy bags out of his bike basket.
"Really? Where do you live then?" I asked. "Two blocks away, behind the canal." Said David.
"Fantastic, come in David!" I said as I opened the door.
"Oh what a beautiful house you have Heather, and that at the age of seventeen!" David said as he put the heavy bags on the table.
"Thank you, I tried my best to figure it out." I laughed. David laughed along and stared at me with two big eyes.
I noticed that the left pupil of his eye was larger than the others. And the color was a little greener, and the other color of his eye was as blue as the ocean.
David and I continued chatting minutes later. "Oops, it's four o'clock. I have to go to music class, I want to meet you again, here." David said as he pulled a tortuous piece of paper from his pocket. "Here is my phone number, if you want to reach me I'm there for you every day.. Beauty!" Said David while smiling.
I blushed and took the note, "Thank you dear David, and thank you for your help, I really mean that!" I said as I walked to the door with David.
"You're welcome, girl, let's do this again. Then call me!" Said David with a smile. "Sure, I'll do that!" I waved.
"Goodbye beauty, see ya!" David said as he cycled away, waving.
I closed the door behind me. I sighed and put my hand on my heart, my heart beat a little faster. I smiled and pulled his phone number from my jacket pocket. What a sweetheart of a man, I think I am in love.
