August 30, 1976.

1 Day after the car accident.

I woke up with aches in my body in my hospital bed. I felt quite confused, where was I and what had happened again?

A nurse walked into my room, "Good morning Heather, did you sleep well?"  He asked. I shook my head and didn't feel well. "No, but I think I was able to sleep through, can you explain what happened?" I asked.

After the nurse explained what had happened, my thoughts were turned upside down. "Where's David?" I asked panicked. "He was still sound asleep, are you in really bad pain somewhere?"  The nurse pulled an IV from my arm.

"When David is awake, will you tell him I love him dearly?" I asked when I just nearly burst into tears. The nurse nodded, "Of course miss, I certainly will." He smiled.

My eye was blue and my leg was broken and three of my ribcage were broken. I sighed, thinking about the moment which was kind of hard to think about.

"Are you okay ma'am?" The nurse asked. "Not really." I moaned.

The nurse turned up the oxygen as I was feeling quite stuffy.

"I'll leave you alone, ma'am, get some rest." The nurse covered me with the blanket. "Thank you very much, Mr. Nurse, I will do my best." I yawned.

I thought of David and my life and David's life. The two of us were very lucky yesterday.

Suddenly I heard my name behind the door, it was David who came to see me.  "Honey, shouldn't you be in bed?" I panicked, David looked slumped.

"I just had to see you now." David hopped with his right leg and took his IV pole with him.

I held out my arm and David came to give me a hug. "Hello honey, we're back together." Said David in a whisper. I kissed David on the cheek.

David held his head and exhaled effortlessly and plopped down on the hospital chair next to my bed.

"Go back to your bed honey, you didn't have to do this." I whispered. "But, I just want to be with you you know." David mumbled when he looked rather exhausted.

Two nurses entered the room. "Hey David, are you okay? Why aren't you in your bed?" The nurse asked as she pulled a stethoscope from her neck.

David got up and grabbed his IV pole. "I just had to see my girl, but I'm already going."

The two nurses looked at each other, one whispering in the other's ear.  "Wait David, we have an idea." Said the nurse as she looked at me with a smile.

"What were you both thinking if you just go to sleep in the same room, then you have a right to be together." The nurse said when she disconnected me from all wires to move. "But, that's great!" David said excitedly.

As I was still very short of breath, I was rushed to David's room. The other nurse helped David into his room.  David lay down in his hospital bed, he extended his arm to me, I grabbed his right hand and gripped it tightly, we looked at each other smiling.

"Okay, now I'll leave you both to rest. As you can know if there's anything you can push the button, we'll be right over." The nurse said as she tied me up by the wires. "Thank you very much, I feel a lot better now." I smiled.
