Part Sixteen: Pure Dream For A Girl

March, 2, 1980.

• A few days later.

In the early morning I was awakened by a cramp in my lower abdomen. It won't be like that again, will it? I looked under my blanket and there was a big red stain of blood on the mattress.

I sighed and leaned his hand under my head. "Not again." I grumbled. It woke David up. "Is something wrong honey?" He asked in a morning voice.

"Uh no, nothing, go to sleep sweetie, it's still early." I said as I got out of bed and put the blanket on the red spot to hide it.

I ran to the bathroom and pulled down my pajama pants. "Oh period, that's what I thought." I said when I looked around where the sanitary towels were. I found an empty bag in my toilet cabinet.

The sanitary towels were gone. I sighed and thought about David, he will have to go to the supermarket to get it for me.

I pulled up my pajama bottoms with the red bloodstain in them and went to the bedroom where David was still sleeping. "Hey, honey, do you want to do something for me?" I whispered. David woke up and moaned, "What's wrong, baby?"

"Well, apparently I just got my period, and, well, I'm out of pads." I sighed from the pain of the lower abdominal cramp. David rubbed his eyes. "Oh, alright sweetie, I'll get up." He yawned.

David stretched and went to wash his face in the bathroom. I sat on the bed and almost passed out in pain.

"Are you okay? Sweetheart?" David asked as he walked to the bedroom with a towel in his hands. I nodded uncomfortably, "It's the cramps, you know, my period."

David sat down next to me, "I'll get your pads right now, it's just eight o'clock in the morning so the shops just opened." David said as he kissed my cheek.

"Thank you for doing that for me." I said. David pulled on his pants, "You're totally welcome, you're my girl so I'll help you as I should." David said with a wink.

David was dressed after minutes.."I'm going to get your necessities now sweetie, I'll be right back." David said as he gave me a quick kiss and then left the bedroom.

After David was kind enough to get me something quickly, I first went to change our dirty bed.

The stomach cramps were increasing and increasing, after I changed the duvet cover I was exhausted and feeling tired. I had come over from a rough virus, which was stuck to me for days. I am now completely healed, and now I have this, the monthly party of women, the period.

I sighed and sat down on the clean bed. I held my stomach, what a bad feeling!

The bedroom door opened, "Hey honey, look what I got for you?" David said as he walked into the bedroom. "That was quick." I smiled

David held out the shopping bag, I took it over. I took the stuff out of the bag, "Oh a chocolate bar, I was just so excited for that!" I said as I licked my lips. "I thought so, that's why I bought them." David said as he put his car keys in his pocket.

"I'm going to take a quick bath." I said when I got up. "Of course sweetie, I'll quickly prepare breakfast for us, the weather is lovely. If you feel better maybe we'll go for a walk." David told as he kissed my cheek.
