August, 31. 1976.
It was early in the morning. David was out of his normal clothes and put some stuff in a suitcase. They let him go home because he had minor injuries, all he has left is a broken wrist and the concussion.
As David was about to leave, four nurses walked in. It was time for my operation which will last four hours. David was worried and wanted to stay for a while.
But luckily, the nurses allowed it. David was allowed to wait in the hallway until I was ready.
I gave David the last kiss. "See you soon, sweetie." He whispered. "If I'm awake, aren't you going home yet?" I asked. David shook his head, "No, honey, I'm staying with you."
The four nurses took me on the bed to the operating room. I waved to David, we left him alone in the room.
I entered a very white cold room with many shining lamps. A man in a white suit shook his hand, "Good morning madam, we are going to help you in a moment. You will sleep for four hours, so that he can do our job properly." He said.
I thought it was kind of scary, I've never broken anything in my life.
The nurses quickly hoisted my supple body over a kind of bed. "Now we're going to start right away, I'm going to put a gas mask over your mouth. A kind of gas sprays there that you breathe in, and that makes you sleepy." The doctor put a kind of gas mask over my mouth and nose.
I trembled a little and inhaled the sleepy gas. I let my body rest, and everything seemed to get so blurry.
• David's POV: •
I sat alone in the hallway, waiting for my girl to finish her surgery that was needed rather quickly.
I still felt a little weak from the car accident, my knee and my arm told me that the bang against the guardrail was very painful.
Anyway, I wasn't sure if I should be glad I was released from the hospital. I felt bad about it, now I left my beloved wife behind.
Hours and minutes flew by, I sat alone in the waiting room and watched the clock keep ticking.
A nurse walked into the waiting room with a clipboard, "Hello Mr Bowie, how are you? We have good news about Heather, the surgery went well and she is sleeping in the recovery room."
I stood up with joy, "How nice to hear, when could I see her?" I asked. "You may follow me, and I will show you where she is." The nurse walked through the corridors.
We arrived in a small room where Heather was sleeping in a hospital bed. I quietly walked over to her and took her hand and rubbed it gently, I didn't want to wake her just yet.
"She just had a major surgery, so just make sure she gets plenty of rest and doesn't panic when she sees her belly." The nurse said as she stood in front of Heather's bed. I nodded, "Sure, I'll keep an eye on her." I answered.
"And do you feel now David?" The nurse asked. I shrugged, "Sometimes good sometimes not. But I'll get over it."
The nurse nodded, "Of course, take enough rest and everything will be fine. Well, I'll help the other patients, I'll be back in fifteen minutes." The nurse left the room and had to help other patients.
I sighed and looked at deeply sleeping Heather, I rubbed her hair from her face.
"Still don't know what I was waitin' for, And my time was runnin' wild,
A million dead end streets and..
Every time I thought I'd got it made,
It seemed the taste was not so sweet.; In a whispered voice I sang my song that Heather prefers to sing with me.A smile appeared on Heather's face, she opened her eyes and looked at me. "Hey babe." She whispered softly. "Hello baby, did you sleep well?" I asked. Heather nodded and lifted her blanket, she was a bit startled by her stitches attached to her stomach.
"Don't worry about this sweetie, this has been better for you." I whispered as I lowered her blanket. "It hurts." She says in a stuttering voice.
I rubbed her forehead, "You'll get well soon."
"Are you going home today?" Asked Heather. I nodded and felt sorry. "Yes, I've already packed my things."
Heather sighed and was still a little groggy from the anesthesia. "You'll just have to get some rest, you just had an operation." I whispered as I came close to Heather's face.
"Go home sweetie, I'll allow it." She said. I rubbed her hand, "Really?" I asked. Heather nodded. "As long as you come to see me every day." She chuckled.
I gave Heather one last kiss, "When I get home I'll call your parents right away to tell them your surgery went well."
"Thank you David, you are very sweet." Heather said as she got a little sleepy. "Rest, I'll be in front of your bed again tomorrow morning." I said when I stood up.
Heather sighed and continued to look at me. "I love you, sweet darling." I whispered as I left the room. "I love you too, bye honey." Heather said as she waved.
I quietly closed the door to Heather's recovery room. With a sigh I left the hospital, alone..
I took a taxi on the way back home, the feeling of being alone just played in my head.
When I finally got home, I stood staring in front of our house, wondering whether there had been a break-in or not.
I turned the key through the door. Everything was still there, it was very quiet. Two days ago it was brutal car accident. How was I supposed to enjoy myself at home alone without my beloved woman I love so much?
This is already the end of this part. I'm very sorry, I have a lot of school. But the next part will be more positive, and I hope you come back and read it. Goodbye lovies! <3
