Hitto Kakucho lost his parents a year ago in a horrific and brutal car accident during a pile up on the highway. Investigators eventually determined that the original cause was a drunk driver who drifted into the right lane and didn't notice until it was too late. The other driver did but the sudden contact and slamming the brakes caused the two to hit a car in front of them and those in the back were unable to react fast enough.
He hated that man with his entire being. Remembered screaming how selfish he was to take so many lives and ruin countless others. After he hit the car more and more couldn't slow down at the speed they were going and crashed into another. His mom was driving since on road trips his parents took turns to let the other one rest.
She had a few seconds to react and instinctively hit the brake . The only reason why Kakucho, sitting in the back survived the crash. The van slowed for a moment and that barely minimized the impact he experienced. Unfortunately his mom and dad were killed on impact. Crushed to death, their bodies pressed against metal and plastics never had a chance.
He was crying and screaming when he saw red but his tears cleared out his vision. Everything was kinda blurry but he told him to get out the crushed vehicle. He was so scared and confused that he didn't think about his parents until later. People shouting and running around to help victims get away from the scene but it went in one ear and out the other.
He stumbled and tripped trying to get away when he felt someone wrap a blanket around him and carry him to the grass where others sat or laid down.
He remembered staying at the hospital for a few weeks to treat his head wound and make sure nothing was broken or infected. The staff were hoping to find a relative to take him in but it was only the three, no aunts, uncles, or cousins. Arrangements were made and the Hyakuya Orphange had room and accepted a four year old Hitto Kakucho.
His long scar across his face and cloudy eye scared the other children. He preferred to be alone anyways. Four children shared a room in two sets of bunkbeds. Little curtains were hung to give some privacy and there was a playroom and outside area as well. The staff were friendly and engaged daily with him. Perhaps it was pity they treated him with and not kindness.
He attended Mizo Elementary, a popular school liked by parents for its location, classes, and that they offer free buses to and from all students' residences. It was here that he met Izana, a fellow classmate during lunchtime. They hit it off pretty quickly and he considered him his one best friend. His brother was cute too. Speaking of which.
"Kakucho!"
He was drawing a house in the dirt with a stick he found when a familiar voice called out to him. He looked up and saw Izana standing in the doorway with his sweet brother next to him, matching angelic smiles. He dragged him over and the trio found another, bigger playground to play at. He wasn't sure why but it felt like the brothers were trying to distract themselves.
Being incredibly energetic and going all over the equipment. A dessert food truck was parked next to them and Izana remembered his pocket money.
"Hitto! Lets get something sweet to eat."
"Oh, uh okay?"
A longish line had formed by the time they walked over. The menu had just about everything you could want. All three settled for taiyakis.
"One taiyaki with peach cream." Izana
"The chocolate taiyaki and chocolate filling." Kakucho
"The matcha taiyaki with sweet cream please!" Izumi
The man smiled as he took their orders and money.
"Hey there, what can I get you?"
A small window deposited the treats which they took back to a bench and ate. After a few more hours playing he was ready to go back. Lunch was coming soon anyways.
"Bye guys!"
"Bye Hitto!"
"Bye Kachan!"
He didn't question it and waved. Izuku was proud of himself for coming up with that one.
"Kachan?"
"Yeah! His last name is a mouthful so I shortened it."
There were free buses that shuttled around Shibuya and Shinjuku allowing them to rest their tired feet and bodies. Izumi watched from the window seat Izana gave him.
It stopped a couple blocks from their building and most of the passengers stepped off. The brothers exited and went up. Izana carefully boiled some shrimp and worked on chicken curry. Izumi was in charge of making rice. He turned on the tv and found a channel airing old western shows. Currently Magnum P.I. was playing. A short and bald man, called "Higgins" was firing cannons into the air.
A second later a slightly younger looking guy with a mustache ran out screaming and waving his arms. Funny of course to a small child so he laughed and kept watching until the food was ready. Izana joined him curious as to what was going on. And for the time being, it was a happy and pleasant moment with no worry.
Nightfall-
Izana and Izumi had brushed, combed, and changed now laying in bed together. Realization set in on the second day Elise and Yamada were no shows. Izana sniffled wiping his face and hugging Izumi who hadn't stopped. It was a scary feeling. To know that their parents had up and left them with no explanation at the tender age of five years old.
He blew his nose with tissues on the bedside table before crawling back and fell asleep. Izana wiped the tear stains from his face with his sleeve. He knew he had to be strong for the both of them. But it hurts.
Shinichiro turned off the lights in the shop and locked the doors and bikes up. He got on his motorcycle and drove home to the Sano Dojo. Manjiro and Keisuke were quite mischievous and often left the dojo in disarray. He silently prayed that nothing crazy happened while he worked his shop.
He parked and went out to the mailbox and checked inside not expecting anything. There was a single standard white envelope with no return address. On the back someone had written 'Shinichiro'. Smart move there. Taking in a random envelope that you don't know where it came from inside with you.
"Welcome home Shinichiroooo!"
Two little blondes, Emma and Mikey screamed as they ran towards him attacking his legs. Setting the envelope down he picked the two up tickling them.
"I've got you now! Ahahahaha!"
"Stop! We give up!"
Shinichiro dropped them on the floor smiling as they ran off. He eyed the envelope and took it to his room opening it with a mini samurai sword letter opener he'd been gifted. Shaking it a single item fell to the floor. He bent down and saw two names on the back. 'Izana K.S.' 'Izumi K.S.' A date, Aug. 30, 1990. Confused he flipped it and was startled.
It was a photo of two infants, the background looked like a hospital setting. Their eyes were closed but he saw soft white hair almost blending in and tanned skin. They had light grey onesies and the baby on the left was sucking a pacifier while the baby on the right faced towards him. Their tiny hands were grasping each others in what was a cute picture but in the context a bit frightening for him.
Why had he been sent a seemingly random picture of infant twins?
I won't be killing Shinichiro off. I kinda need him for the plot so I hope that makes some people happy! See you tomorrow hopefully!
Also my dumb self forgot Izana is older so I changed the birthdate to be the same as Mikey's.
