kennedy's point of view
"hey!" my voice is hoarse as i continue to scream. "hello?"
the skin of my knuckles are red from how many times i've banged them against the glass wall i'm stuck behind.
the sound of air suctioning whips past me and i soon realize the glass wall is really a glass door. it slides open in a matter of seconds and i use this as my chance to dart out of the small room i've been confined to for who knows how long.
"hi, kennedy." poe's voice interrupts my labored breathing as my head whips in all directions.
the walls are a dark grey that look to be made out of concrete or metal and they match the floor.
"where are we?" i hesitantly ask, worried i might not like the answer.
"my company's headquarters." poe informs me as he stands with his hands clasped in front of him.
"i thought your headquarters was in alaska?"
he nods his head.
"we're in alaska?" my eyes widen. "how did you get me all the way here from california? how long have i been out for?"
"we flew, it only took about 6 hours give or take. you've been out for 12. but-" he quickly says, stopping me from saying anything. "there's nothing to worry about. no one knows you're even back yet, so it's not like there's any reason you can't be here in alaska."
my arms are crossed over my chest and the anger pulsating throughout me is enough to override the foggy, post-chloroform symptoms i should be feeling right about now.
"so why am i here?"
poe shoots me a soft smile, "come with me."
i walk beside poe as we exit the section my room was in. the rest of this place, or what i can see of it so far, all looks exactly the same.
the rooms, the lack of windows, the rest of the founders bustling around this place with their noses in books or headpieces attached to their ears.
"we told you some time ago that we're a scientific research company. we study metaphysics, specifically transtemporal travel, or as you like to call it, time travel."
"i remember." i say softly as my eyes dart from one thing to the next as we continue to walk.
"as much as it may seem like we controlled your time spent in the past instead of the universe itself, i'd like for you to think that the universe and us, the founders, were more so ... teammates than anything."
i come to stop at the same time he does.
"in here." he directs me into a room.
it looks like a conference room. there's a large, oval shaped table in the center with chairs surrounding it. i take a seat in one of them as he gently closes the door behind us.
