THURSDAY, OCTOBER 9th 2018"but kennedy, this could be great for you!" my mom has been trying to get me out of the car for the past ten minutes.
we were pulled up to a big office building where auditions are taking place right now for the netflix movie.
"i'm not going." i said, with my arms crossed over my chest.
"but this could be fun for you! what do you have to lose?"
"um, my sanity? the progress i've made on my mental health, my dignity-"
my sarcastic response was interrupted by my mom sighing very loudly.
"ken, who else do you know that gets specifically picked for an audition? they want you! and this could lead to something great."
"yeah, they only want me because i've gained a massive following and everyone wants to use me as a science experiment because i time travelled." i rolled my eyes.
there was a moment of silence in the car until she quietly said, "you know, you'd make your dad proud."
i readjusted in my seat feeling uncomfortable with the dead dad talk arising in the car.
"remember when he signed you up for the school play in kindergarten? you loved it! you got naomi to join too and you both did it for years." i could tell she was smiling but i didn't want to look over at her, "you could just think of this as if it's a play."
"fine. i'll do it, but don't expect it to go well." i said, opening the car door and stepping out, "i'm not even an actress."

once i found the floor auditions are on in the building, a middle aged woman handed me a script and pointed me towards a door.
"don't i have to sit and wait and read over this?" i asked, holding up the stapled stack of papers in my hand.
"oh, no. they're ready for you now." she looked me in the eyes and then went back to ferociously typing on her computer.
i walked over to the door she pointed me towards and slowly opened it. there were three people at a desk, just like my audition for license to drive.
thankfully though, no greg beeman.
"hi, i'm-"
"kennedy white!" the man sitting in the middle excitedly announced my name, "come on in."
"okay." i awkwardly smiled, walking in and standing on the tape that made an X on the floor.
"i'm joe berlinger, the director and producer, jason barrett, executive producer, and neely eisenstein, casting agent." he smiled, introducing me.
"i uh- don't have a resume or anything."
"oh, we know. that's okay, one of hollywood's best former manager's, michael anderson, called us and told us to reach out to you for this role. so we found your social media and went from there. you know him, right? michael?"
"y-yeah but ... well he managed me during my whole ..." i tried to search for the right words, "time travel experience."
joe laughed, "your time travel experience will most likely help this movie out immensely. you're who everyone is talking about right now."
i nodded, unsurely, "what movie is this, by the way?" i looked down at the script, the title at the top of the page read, "extremely wicked, shockingly evil, and vile."
"i'm glad you asked." joe smiled, "it's a ted bundy movie, played by zac efron. and you will play his girlfriend."
my eyebrows furrowed. i don't know which one was more bizarre, that i could be in a movie with zac efron or that i'll be playing serial killer, ted bundy's girlfriend.
