i had been drawing circles with my finger on jason's chest as we laid in his bed for the longest time."so how does this work?" he broke the comfortable silence between us.
"how does what work?" i smiled.
"me being here in 1987 and you ... not?"
"i'll come as much as i can." i shrugged, zoning out as i continued to tickle his soft skin. "maybe at night though, that way 2018 you and jake don't randomly pass out in public places."
the second those words left my mouth, my eyes widened and i felt my heart practically skip a beat.
"what?" he looked over at me with a confused grin.
"fuck!" i quickly sat up, "what time is it?"
he and i both looked over at his alarm clock beside his bed - 3:34 pm.
"shit, i've been gone for so long, my mom's probably freaking out!" i jumped out of his bed and grabbed my shoes.
"what did you say about 2018 me passing out in public?" he asked.
"well, the three of you can't go through the portal thing because your younger selves are already here." i motioned to him as i tried to balance myself as i pulled one of my sneakers on, "so instead of dreaming everything i'm doing here right now, you guys for some reason lose consciousness and dream it all right then and there."
"woah woah woah, wait." he shook his head, sitting up, "what dreams? and you found the older me in 2018?"
i placed my leg back down and let out a huff of air. i realized he wouldn't know anything about me showing up at current time jason patric's front porch, asking if he saw me in his dreams.
"jesus, there's so much to fill you in on."
"what do i look like? do i know who you are?"
"you were in the other car that naomi and i crashed into the night i time travelled and woke up at the lost boy's premiere. 2018 you. and i guess that's why all of this happened and why i ended up in your life, because we crashed into each other." i shrugged, filling him in.
he confusedly stared at me for a good 15 seconds. i could tell he was trying to make sense of everything.
"what!" he exclaimed.
"i know, it's a lot and it's confusing. but i promise i'll fill you in on everything, i just really have to go! the three of you have been practically laying by the side of the road for about," i looked at the clock again, "13 hours."
"kennedy, oh my god." he groaned, rubbing his hands over his face, "i'm so confused."
"i'll see you soon, okay?" i kissed the top of his head and then ran out of his apartment.
once i made it to the elevators, i repeatedly, and very impatiently, pressed the down button.
"kennedy!"
i turned around and was met with corey who was lounging on a leather chair, "god, you took forever."
"you waited for me?"
"of course?" he stood up, "how else would you get back? remember, i drove." he sassily said.
"you could've came back to his apartment! i feel bad you were waiting this whole time!"
he scrunched his nose up, "no, are you kidding! i didn't wanna walk in and see you guys fucki-"
"oh my god." i cringed, talking over him so i didn't have to hear the end of that sentence.
the elevator door opened, thankfully with no one inside.
"you're welcome." corey shrugged, stepping into the elevator.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5th 2018
my foot was on the break as i came to a stop in my driveway. i had just dropped jake and jason back off at their houses since i was the one who drove us all to the portal last night.
corey stayed in the 80s, as he should. as much i love having him around all the time, it's too risky to have anyone see a young corey haim walking the streets in the year 2018. i could see it definitely causing some serious confusion.
the worst part about today is facing my mom after being gone for almost a full 24 hours without her knowing where i was. i took my time getting out of the car and walking to the front door.
i'm almost surprised there wasn't a search team waiting here for me.
the minute i pushed opened the door and it let out a creak, i could hear my mom's footsteps approaching the foyer.
"hi-"
"where have you been?" her eyes were wide with concern.
"just ... with some friends." i said as i slowly closed the front door behind me.
"and you didn't tell me? i was worried sick when i woke up and saw you weren't in your bed! you didn't answer any of my calls either."
"i'm sorry." i genuinely meant it too, but i don't think telling my mom i'm going out to time travel by choice 31 years in the past and that i'll be back soon would go over too well.
she let out a deep sigh and then pulled me into her for a hug.
"i know i told you to go out and have fun and be a teenager, but ... just let me know some things, okay? and answer your phone. please." she said the last sentence sternly.
i nodded my head, "i will, i promise."
"good." she pulled away with a smile on her face, "hey, can check your emails for me? i got a call from someone saying they want you to audition for some netflix film."
"what?" i laughed.
"yeah! they specifically want to talk to you about it. i guess some retired manager of some pretty big actors back in the day contacted them about it."
i furrowed my eyebrows as my mon nonchalantly shrugged, walking towards the kitchen.
"what manager?"
"i don't know, someone named michael anderson."
i felt my stomach drop. if this man is the same man who managed me during my time spent as brandy, i think it's pretty safe to say i'm gonna lose my mind ... even more than i already have.
