"Max" I yell over the talking people, he spins around finally spotting us.

"Where the hell were you two?" he looks- well he looks slightly panicked.

"Max what's wrong?" I ask, confused to why he doesn't seem like his normal self at all.

"They're here but..... they aren't exactly alone either"

"What do you mean?" Nicholas asks right behind me.

"They have this whole building on lock down with men positioned at every exist, no one comes in, no one goes out"

"It's a trap" I say with little disbelief "I knew he was a fucking coward but to be okay with killing everyone here takes it's peak" I look back at Nicholas who has a murdering glare playing in his eyes.

"Okay, so are we all in?" I ask one last time before we start.

"You don't even have to ask" Nicholas replies pulling out his two Glocks.

"I'm in" Max nods his head "I'll take my head start now then"

"Where did you put them anyways?" I ask as he walks off.

"In the staircase" he spins around smiling.

"You hid all of our guns in plain sight?" he's kidding me.....

"Yuuup" he disappears through the fire escape door leaving me and Nicholas on our own.

I nod at him before walking over to the closest wall. I know the minute I pull this fire alarm everything will go to shit, there will be nothing but death and chaos in this place.

And yet I find my hand still pulling down on the small lever blasting high pitch noises through every corner of the building. People begin panicking as they move to the nearest exit all pushing and shoving not caring about anyone but themselves and honestly I think these moments are my favorite to observe. It's funny how peoples true selves come out when danger is around the corner, it seems as though humanity itself doesn't exist for those few minutes. I'd say it's the flight or fight in them but I'd only be lying, some stay and help whilst others save themselves and I don't know whether they're selfish or in the right.

The exit doors break open from people pushing into them and I can't ignore the relief that hits me knowing there won't be more meaningless death piled onto today than needed, but relief soon disappears as men dressed in all black from head to toe run in.

I feel Nicholas's hand on my waist as he pulls me in behind a corner, we're standing chest to chest but his eyes stay locked at the men. There's nothing but a few last footsteps from the last few people leaving the place before it all falls silent, I look up at him as he glances down at me "there's at least 30 of them" he whispers with his hand still around my waist, I can feel the tip of his gun just below my back as it presses against me.
