When Drew woke up a few hours later, he was surprised and more than upset to not find Brandi there next to him, snuggled to his side. It made Drew wonder if he had done anything wrong, but when he thought about it, nothing really came to mind.
Then visions of last night burst into his mind like lightning fast flashbacks, and Drew could hear Brandi's voice echoing in his head, saying that it was all just a dream, but he knew better than that. What happened last night was more real than most of the things in this world.
Drew closed his eyes, hoping that when he opened them, Brandi would reappear next to him. He bet she looked beautiful in the morning; a natural kind of beauty.
"Kacey," he called and his sister appeared at his doorway, not long after.
"What do you want?" he asked, combing her fingers through her hair.
                              "Where's Brandi?"
"She packed up her stuff and left," Kacey replied. "She looked like she was in a hurry, and she looked quite upset as well."
Kacey didn't like pointing fingers, but she couldn't help but blame Drew for this. Brandi left so suddenly without any reason and she was with Drew the entire time, so he was mot likely the reason why she left.
"I had nothing to do with this. I swear," Drew said, but Kacey knew better.
"Drew, you were the only one she was with that early in the morning."
"But she was the one who kissed me!" Drew defended. It wasn't just a dream for him.
"You guys kissed?" Kacey asked, her eyes nearly popping out of her head. "Drew, she has a boyfriend."
"I tried to tell her that, but she just kissed me, and then, she said to pretend that it was all just a dream." Drew ranted on, and on, and Kacey just stopped listening as she plopped herself down on his bed and clamped his mouth shut with her hand.
"Drew, slow down. You're going to choke on your saliva again," Kacey reminded her brother.
Drew let out a sigh and swallowed the lump in his throat, before repeating what he had just said, but a lot slower. "Brandi kissed me. I tried reminding her about Nate, but she just wouldn't stop, so I went along with it."
"Good boy, speaking clearly," Kacey teased, but became serious, once again, when she saw the distressed look on her brother's face. "You like her a lot, huh?"
"Yeah, I really do," Drew replied, sheepishly, hiding his face in his pillow as he hugged it to his chest and his cheeks began to feel hot.
"But you can't like her like that."
                              "I know."
"Because she has a boyfriend, you know?" Kacey continued, wanting to make her point very clear. "And that boyfriend is your best friend."
"I know," Drew replied. "I'm not even trying to get between them."
"So that kiss you shared with her at three in the morning was totally friendly?"
"Kacey, please get out of my room," Drew said, throwing the pillow, he was previously hugging, at his little sister.
She raised her hands up in surrender and slowly walked out of his room. "Don't blame me. You're the one who called me to come in here."
"What a mistake," Drew spat. "All you did was make me feel worse."
"Stop thinking about yourself. Stop thinking about Brandi. Instead, think about how Nate would feel if he ever hears about this," Kacey said. Drew just wanted her to leave already. "He would either kill you or make you feel bad for the rest of your life."
