"I don't know why you aren't making it official yet?" Kacey said, her head on Drew's lap as he mindlessly scrolled through his phone. "You obviously love her."
It was another one of those days where Drew went back home and talked to Kacey while Brandi and Levi did their own thing. He didn't really know what they did, but he knew that they were both in Brandi's flat right now, because that's what she told him before he left.
"I'm just waiting for the right time," Drew replied, twirling a piece of his sister's hair around his finger. She'd recently gotten highlights and he found them really pretty. They suited her.
                              "No. You're just chicken."
                              "No I'm not."
"You're even too chicken to admit that you're chicken."
                              "I won't admit that I'm chicken because I'm not."
"Yeah, right," Kacey scoffed. Drew was a chicken and a liar. "Brandi's probably waiting for you to ask her."
"I don't like making her wait. She gets really cranky when something takes too long."
Drew didn't know where Kacey was going with this, but it seemed like she had way more knowledge about this than he did, so he made sure to listen and take notes in his head. He just didn't want to mess things up, because everything was already going so well for him.
"You're taking too long, Drew," Kacey sighed as she sat upright and stared at her brother, intently. "You're making her wait."
                              "Yeah, but-"
"You guys have known each other for eight months. Eight. Months. And you've been a thing for a while now."
"Some people wait a lot longer than eight months," Drew pointed out, running a hand through his own hair and playing with the sleeves of his sweater. It was mid-October and it was already getting really chilly.
"I'm just saying, Brandi might not want to wait that long."
                              "What do you mean?"
"Well, if you don't make your move any time soon, she's going to give up on you."
Drew swallowed hard and looked down at his hands. He'd gone through so much to get her. He had to wait too, but he never gave up on her, but Drew knew that Brandi was something else; a whole other story.
"She wouldn't do that," he finally replied, after a pretty long period of time, which only made Kacey more anxious, because she knew that her brother didn't think this through. "Would she?"
"I don't know. Probably," she replied.
Drew started to sweat. What if Brandi did give up on him? He'd probably jump off a cliff, because dying would hurt a lot less than losing Brandi.
"Can you help me think of something?"
"What's in it for me?" Kacey questioned, squinting her eyes as she stared at Drew. She just wanted something in return, because everyone knew that Drew was a hopeless case.
"I'll literally do anything. Please Kacey."
"Alright, fine," she said, giving in. Then a devious smile made its way onto his face and Drew started to sweat even more. "I have the perfect plan."
                              "Oh Lord, help me."
                              ~
"Hi Drew," Brandi said, happily, as she opened the front door of her flat for him.
Levi had left a little while ago, saying that he had plans with Austin and leaving Brandi there all alone until Drew came back from his house.
"Hey," Drew replied, before placing a sweet kiss to Brandi's forehead as she wrapped her arms around his torso. "I missed you."
"It's only been half a day, Drew," Brandi said, rolling her eyes at him, before giggling. She was so cute. Drew absolutely adored her.
"I know. I just really like being together."
                              "I do too."
Both of them just continued standing there — the door still wide open — as they hugged and cuddled the life out of each other. You could practically see the love that neither of them wanted to admit.
Suddenly, Drew saw Nate walking by with Hoosier and Pokey and Drew's heart immediately sunk for him. For Nate, this must be really painful to see.
Nate stared at them in the doorway for a few minutes — Brandi still completely unaware of his presence as she buried her face into Drew's chest — and it looked like he was about to burst into tears. He knew that Nate still loved Brandi with his entire being and just being with her right now made Drew feel guilty.
He hasn't seen Nate in a while, but this wasn't really the best way for them to see each other again.
Drew lifted his hand up and waved at Nate as he gave him a small smile, before continuing to walk his dogs. It was just sad seeing him that heartbroken and miserable. Considering that he lived in an entirely different neighborhood made it even worse, because that meant he was only walking his dogs here just to get a glimpse of Brandi's flat, or maybe even Brandi. Also, it was really chilly outside which made Drew feel even worse about Nate's situation.
"What are you looking at?" Brandi asked as she noticed Drew staring off into the distance.
"Oh, it's nothing," Drew replied, kicking the door shut and walking over to the couch. "I just thought I saw someone I knew."
Brandi shuffled her way towards the couch and plopped down on the opposite end, making Drew whine and lie down on her lap as she played with his hair. He loved it when she tangled her fingers into his hair. It made him feel calm, like, everything was fine and it was just them.
"Brandi?" Drew mumbled as he tugged his sweater sleeves lower, until they went beyond his thumb.
"Yes, Drew?" she mumbled back, resting her elbow on the armrest of the couch and leaning her head against her arm. Drew knew that she was getting sleepy. It was just a little bit past 9:30 PM and Brandi would be completely knocked out in a couple of minutes.
                              "Will you ever leave me?"
                              "Why are you asking?"
"I don't know," Drew replied, suddenly regretting asking her that. "I just don't want to lose you."
"You're such a girl," Brandi laughed and Drew sat up, pouting at her. "Aw, baby. Don't give me that look."
"But you're making fun of me," Drew whined.
                              "No I'm not."
"Yes you are. Now I feel bad about myself."
Brandi rolled her eyes at Drew and wrapped her arms around his neck, before kissing his nose, sweetly. It was past her bedtime and she was beginning to feel delirious.
"I would never leave you, Drew," she replied, grinning. "Never, ever, ever,  never."
"In that case," Drew said, smirking and finally letting his arms wrap around Brandi's waist and pull her  closer to him. "Would you like to go on a date with me?"
"Why?" Brandi asked, cluelessly, but her eyes told a different story.
"I'm pretty sure you know why."
