Drew woke up the following morning on the couch, without Brandi by his side. It made him a little upset, because she always waited for Drew to awaken before she got up and made breakfast.
Drew let out a loud groan and literally rolled off of the couch and onto the fluffy rug that Brandi had purchased a few weeks ago. She was the one who bought it, but it was Drew who picked it out beacuse it was really soft and he liked it a lot.
"Good morning, Drew," Brandi laughed from the kitchen area as she prepared some waffles for the both of them. She'd heard a loud thud coming from the living room and couldn't help but roll her eyes at the silly boy that she adored.
"Why didn't you stay," Drew whined as a pout made its way to his face. He was still on the floor, looking really comfortable on that fluffy rug.
"I got hungry and thought I should start making breakfast so it would be ready by the time you woke up."
Drew finally pushed himself off of the rug and stumbled his way into the kitchen, immediately wrapping his arms around Brandi.
"Guess what day it is," he said as he swayed back and forth, pulling Brandi along with him.
                              "Uh, it's Friday, right?"
                              "Aside from that."
                              "It's the 23rd."
"Brandi," Drew whined getting slightly annoyed at her as she pretended not to know what Drew was talking about.
"Calm down," Brandi laughed. "You're going to take me out on a date tonight. How could I forget?"
                              "I don't know."
Brandi rolled her eyes and lightly jabbed Drew in the ribs, making him jerk back in surprise. "It was a rhetorical question, Dirksen."
"Yes, but I answered it anyway," Drew teased as he stepped forward to peck Brandi's lips.
                              "You're adorable."
                              "I know."
Suddenly, they both heard a series of high-pitched beeps and Brandi immediately ran to the waffle maker, switching it off, as a cloud of grey smoke surrounded her.
"Drew," Brandi whined as she pouted at the terribly burnt waffles in front of her. It was actually pretty sad.
"I'm sorry," Drew replied, sheepishly. Of course, this was his fault. He distracted her and nearly burned the house down. "We can always go out for breakfast."
                              "Fine."
                              "Are you mad?"
                              "No."
                              "You're mad."
"I'm upset," Brandi corrected, emphasizing the last word, which only made Drew certain that she was mad.
                              "I'm sorry."
"It's fine, Drew. Let's just go."
She was mad, Drew was sure of it.
                              ~
Drew and Brandi ended up eating waffles in a café downtown. They were pretty good waffles, but Brandi knew that her waffles would've been better if they hadn't ended up burnt.
Brandi really was mad, but it wasn't entirely because of Drew. She also had to blame herself and her ignorance. She'd be over it in time for their date tonight. It wasn't really a big deal, so she tried to not make it a big deal.
"I'm sorry," Drew said, his mouth full of waffles. He'd noticed that Brandi had gone quiet and it made him feel bad.
"Drew, it's okay," Brandi replied, smiling and squeezing his hand to make him believe it. "Really, it is."
"Yeah, but I know you're mad."
"I'm not. I'm just a little upset. I'll get over it."
Drew nodded his head and smiled. He still felt kind of bad, but not as much. He was just worried that Brandi would cancel on him.
"I'm just glad my flat didn't burn down," Brandi laughed, before taking a sip from her milkshake. "I would've had to move back in with my parents until I found a new place, or worse. I'd have to stay with Levi and Austin."
"Or you could move in with me," Drew suggested, not realizing the weight of his words until Brandi went quiet.
"You would let me move in with you?" Brandi smiled, swirling her straw around and not even bothering to start on her second waffle. Drew would end up getting half of it anyway.
"Yeah. I mean, if you really needed a place to stay. You're always welcome in the Dirksen household."
Drew tried to picture in his head how it would be like dealing with Brandi and Kacey under the same roof 24/7. He would probably die of stress and embarrassment. Considering the fact that his sister had gathered tons of blackmail over the years.
"I miss Lilly," Brandi said, changing the topic. "I want a dog."
                              "Lilly misses you too."
"I want a dog," Brandi repeated.
"Like, right now?" Drew questioned. Christmas was approaching and he wanted to give her something awesome.
"Not really. I don't think I'll be able to handle a dog all by myself."
"You won't have to," Drew said, not really thinking about what he said, as Brandi cocked her head to the side. "I mean, I practically live with you, so we can take care of the puppy together. I could help out and stuff."
"Oh, okay," Brandi replied, trying to hide her disappointment.
"Unless you want me to move in with you, like, officially."
Drew really wanted to move in with Brandi. It seemed like he was the only one out of all his friends who still lived with his parents. It got kind of humiliating at times. Especially when his dad dropped him off at parties and stuff, or when his friends catch him in the grocery store with his mom as he tries to beg her to get the candy bar he really wants, or when his sister forces him to go out and buy her girl stuff with his money. It was beginning to get on Drew's nerves and living with Brandi seemed less stressful.
Brandi looked up at him and smiled really wide. She was already planning all of this in her head. It was going to be awesome.
"Yeah," she said, nodding her head. "I would really like that."
