In the grand dining hall, a long table dominated the space, stretching from the front to the back of the room. Above, a glass chandelier sparkled, reflecting the sunlight that streamed in.
However, it was the Emperor's presence the most eye-catching thing in the whole entire room.Seated at the table, he exuded an aura of coldness and intimidation, his eyes flashing with warning signals that made me shudder. As I walked over, taking a seat, his scowl deepened.
Did he have to look at me with such a creepy expression?
I forced a bright smile onto my face, trying to conceal my growing unease. "Good afternoon, Your Majesty," I said, attempting to sound calm.
I stammered out a concern for his well-being, hoping to appease him. "I-I heard you've been busy lately, hubby. Please don't overexert yourself. I worry about your health."
The Emperor's response was venomous. "When did you start caring, you deceitful little thing? And don't dare call me 'hubby' – it's nauseating. Don't think you can deceive me with your fake sweetness and innocence, only to take advantage of my trust." He rose from his seat, his anger palpable. "If you're here to play games, then I'm leaving."
No!
My heart raced as I realized he had seen through my ruse.
He doesn't trust me. What should I do?! He figured it out straight away!
The Emperor turned to exit the hall, leaving me stunned and helpless. "Hubby!" I cried out, though he was already gone.
Ugh! How is my plan going to work if the Emperor is making it so difficult for me?!
I seethed with frustration, my plan foiled by the Emperor's skepticism. Tears of anger pricked at the corners of my eyes as I glared at the plate of food in front of me.
Joe, who had been watching from the doorway, rushed to my side. "Your Highness, are you alright?"
I ignored him, refusing to give up. But as tears threatened to fall, I suddenly smiled, a plan forming in my mind. "I don't believe your heart won't soften if I cry," I murmured.
