I woke up to find myself locked up in a dark cell. The walls and floor were made out of cold stone. There were bars in front of me and a small window with bars on it too.

This only meant one thing: I was back, but in the dungeon. I shivered and huddled together in a corner of the cell, curled up. Jessica must be wondering where I was. I'm so useless and easily fooled. Why did I even run into an alley where I could be cornered?

Suddenly, I heard a loud roar and it made me spring to my feet, my heart beating uncontrollably fast.  But the roar didn't come from an animal, instead it was the emperor, Cedric.

Soon, Cedric came into my view. He looked terrible. He had black circles under his eyes and his hair was messed up.

Gosh, what had happened to him?

Why was he torturing himself?

Cedric turned to me and that was when I saw that he was holding a whip. Did he want to whip me?!

Cedric glared at me, his grip on the whip tightening. There was dry blood on his chapped lips. Cedric gritted his teeth and he started to speak, "You think it's okay to run away again and again?"

I think he lost his patience. This is it. I'm doomed. I stared at him in horror as he grabbed onto one of the bars with one of his big hands roughly. "You think I wouldn't hurt you? That I was just threatening you and won't do anything to you?" He sucked in some air sharply. "Well, your wrong!"

I gasped.

He pulled out a key and unlocked the dungeon cell, stepping inside the small space. He stood over me, his eyes narrowed. "Kneel down."

My eyes widened. "What?"

"Kneel down," he growled.

I remember that my mother had told me to never kneel to anyone except God and Goddess. But what choice did I have?

I hope you forgive me, God and Goddess, I prayed and bowed my head. I slowly kneel down on the ground.

Cedric sucked in another sharp breath and raised his whip to hit my back.  My father and mother have never even whipped me before and now a person that wasn't even related me was going to do so!

I squeezed my eyes shut and waited for the pain.

"....?" But it didn't come.

What's wrong? Why isn't Cedric hitting me?

Bamp!  I heard.

Huh?

I opened my eyes and gasped to see Cedric punching the hard, stone, solid wall!

"What are you doing?!" I exclaimed.

His fist was bleeding. What's wrong with him? He really is insane!

Wait a minute, everyone calls him crazy and insane, but I don't think he's actually insane. He just acts like a crazy person because he lost his wife, Julia.

But I quickly snapped back to my senses when I heard the sound of running footsteps. Then Lucas burst in and he gasped to see Cedric's bleeding fist.

He glared at me and I shrank back.

What is Lucas doing here? Didn't he retire?

"If you are wondering, I have been hired again," Lucas growled at me. "I have to take care of the emperor." Then he turned his attention to Cedric and looked pained. "Your majesty, I'll take you to the hospital!"

Cedric shook his head and turned back to me. He raised the whip again and I braced myself...

But.... he didn't whip me again.

"I can't do it," he whispered.

Somehow, I felt bad for Cedric. All he wanted was his wife back. He tossed the whip into Lucas' hands before leaving with his bleeding fist.

I watched as he disappeared up the stairs. I sighed but then instantly stiffened when Lucas took a step towards me. His eyes were filled with angry tears.

What's wrong with him? Is he gay and in love with Cedric? But he's married and he has three children...

Lucas suddenly raised the whip and... WHIPPED ME! I was shocked. My jaw fell as I fell from my knees.

Lucas blinked away his tears. "Don't get me wrong," he told me through gritted teeth, "these tears aren't for you, but for the emperor."

I hissed in pain, forcing myself to look up at him. "Are you lesbian or something?"

"YOU REALLY ARE CARELESS AND SELFISH AND DOESN'T CARE ABOUT OTHERS!" He screamed at me.

What in the world?!

"THE EMPEROR IS STRESSED!" Lucas continued to scream like a maniac. "BECAUSE OF YOU! BUT ALSO BECAUSE THE EMPIRE OF DOOM IS LAUNCHING AN ATTACK! THERE WILL BE WAR AND CEDRIC WANTS TO PROTECT HIS PEOPLE AND YOU!"

Lucas took a deep breath and continued, "THERE WILL BE WAR IN OUR EMPIRE IN ONE MORE WEEK!"

I gasped and felt bad for Cedric. This was terrible!

"HE MIGHT EVEN DIE!" Lucas roared, grabbing me by the shoulders.

"Gasp!" I heard. But it wasn't my gasp, but someone else. Not Lucas', or mine.

"Did you hear that?" I exclaimed.

"Someone is eavesdropping on us!" Lucas growled, pissed.

Just as I looked towards the window, I saw the eavesdropper hurrying away. "Hey!"

"Aren't you going to report to the emperor that someone is messing around, eavesdropping?" I asked Lucas.

"The emperor is so stressed and you want me to make him stressed even more by telling him this?!" Lucas yelled. "You are so selfish! A selfish beast!"

Then he whipped me again. And again.

I squeezed my eyes shut and tears fell. "Stop! Stop it!"

Lucas finally stopped. "Don't worry, I won't let you die, because Cedric would never allow it. You will get treatment soon." Then he stormed out of the dungeon and slammed the dungeon door shut, locking it.

My back stung.

Now, there was only one question: What do I do now?

I clearly couldn't continue my plan anymore, because of the current situation. I probably wouldn't have enough time to continue my plan anyway, because there is one week until war.

Some people are already packing to leave this empire because of the danger. How about I just go with the flow?

I yawned and huddled together, my back aching, and fell into deep slumber.
