I woke up to the sound of birds chirping. The moment I opened my eyes, I was faced with the blinding sunlight beaming from the windows.

"Your Highness, are you awake?" Joe's voice made all the drowsiness instantly drain out of me. All the madness from last night came crashing back into my brain. I scrambled out of bed, running my fingers through my hair.

I had to make a plan on meeting Theo. It was important, as he definitely could tell me something about Julia, since he was the one who escaped with her.

My fingers stumbled upon a knot in my hair. I pulled my fingers through the knot, chewing my lips.

I could sneak out in the middle of the night and into the kitchen. After all, Joe had told me by accident that Theo would be there every night. However... the problem is... I barely knew my way around this estate, let alone the kitchen.

Wandering in the dark of the palace of the man who wanted to kill me wasn't exactly a good, safe idea. Perhaps I could sneak to Theo's bedroom instead looking for the kitchen, as it was a safer option.

Theo's bedroom was right next to Cedric's, and thankfully I knew how to get there.

I can sneak out tonight by taking advantage that Julia's bedroom door is gone. Joe had taken down the door just because I broke the handle, and was going to replace it with a new one. "I'm not going to complain," I said to myself, the corners of my lips curving upwards.

"Your highness?" Joe asked, knocking me out of my thoughts.

"Yes?"

"One of the maids, Angie, has finished her own packing so she volunteered to help finish with your packing."

I nodded, listening to him halfheartedly.

"Angie should be here any moment to help you get dressed." Joe rose from his chair and straightened his back, yawning. We both stared at the empty doorway, awaiting for Angie's arrival.

Joe frowned. "Where is Angie?" Just as Joe was about to go search for her, a girl dashed into the room. She was a young girl, with shoulder-length blonde hair and emerald green eyes. She was in a maid uniform.

"S-sorry for being late, Your Highness!"

"Your Angie?

"Yes," she panted, leaning against the wall to catch her breathe. She looked up at Joe. "I'm so sorry. My younger sister got injured when she playing around in the maid's hall."

"Playing?! Is this the time for playing and having fun?! Today is Thursday, which means there are only three more days until war begins!"

Three more days until war! I had been so caught up in my own things I had lost track of time.

Angie bowed her head. "I'm so so so sorry! I won't let it happen again!"

"The earlier we leave, the better!" Joe exclaimed. "We can't flee on Sunday, can we?!"

Joe suddenly turned to me. "I'm so sorry for showing this kind of behavior in front of you." He bowed. Then he turned to Angie.

"Angie, I'll hand her highness over to you now. Help her get dressed."

My heart began pounding. We're leaving soon? That's terribly bad.

No, I mean it has a good side, but also a bad one. It's good as everyone who's fleeing can be safe sooner, however on the bad side....

If I leave, what will happen to Theo? Will he come with us? If he doesn't, will I never see him and get a chance to talk to him? And if he does leave with us, which carriage will he be riding in? Will we be in the same vehicle?

"Your Highness, you face looks pale," Angie told me as Joe exited the room. "Are you feeling alright?"

I nodded halfheartedly.

"Your Highness, please sit down at your dressing table so I can do your hair," Angie instructed. I did what I was told.

"How would you like me to style your hair today?" Angie questioned as she began to brush Julia's hairbrush through my silky pink hair

"I'm not picky, as long as it's not too fancy," I replied.

"Alright."

"Angie," I called, as Angie grabbed ran the brush through my hair a few more times.

"Mmm?" she replied, her eyes glued to my hair.

"I was wondering.... does Cedric sleep in his office?"

I held my breath. If he slept in his office, I would have to sneak past his office with him inside! That would increase my chance of getting caught.

"Oh, yes," answered Angie. "His Majesty has been really stressed these days and is forcing himself to work." She sighed.

Oh. I scrunched up my eyebrows.

"Oh, Angie, I have another question."

"Yes?" Angie tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear.

"Is Cedric a deep sleeper?"

Please be a deep sleeper! I held my breath, waiting for her answer.

"No, he is not a deep sleeper," replied Angie. "Why?"

"NOOOOOOO!" I yelled without thinking.

Ten hours later:

"Sweet dreams, your highness," Joe said to me as I slid under the cool covers. "Angie has finished packing your stuff so your all set to leave. I've arranged your leave to be the day after tomorrow."

That early?

Joe switched of the  turned off the light switch. Then he moved a chair over to my bed and plopped down.

"Aren't you going to sleep?" I asked him. If Joe's going to stay up the whole night, my plan would never work!

"No, I have to guard you until morning," Joe replied. Then he narrowed his eyebrows. I could see him narrow his eyes even in the dark. "Are you planning on running away?"

"Of course not."

"Tomorrow I'll be catching up on my sleep and Lucas will be the one guarding you."

I gulped. Lucas hated me to the core. No doubt he would keep an careful eye on me the whole night. I suddenly yawned.

I should catch up on some sleep. I'm not a deep sleeper so I will definitely wake up in the middle of the night. Perhaps Joe will be asleep by then.
