After a few more minutes of riding Snowy and enjoying the fresh air, I got back onto the ground where Lucas was waiting for me with a dark expression. He explained some horse safety rules, pointed out some mistakes I had made when riding Snowy and then we took Snowy back to the stables. I grabbed an apple for a basket and raised it to Snowy's mouth, beaming.

"Hurry up," Lucas rushed me with an eye roll. "I'll be outside the stable by the benches." Once I fed Snowy the apple and padded her head, I joined Lucas on one of the benches. Lucas tossed a bottle of cold water at me, without even glancing us.

"Thanks," I said. I have good manners, you know? Unlike Lucas.

Lucas uncapped his bottle of water and gulped half of it down in less than ten seconds. Excuse me, but I was the one riding the horse. He was just standing there, watching me and holding back his anger.

"What's next on the schedule?" I asked him, squeezing the bottle with my hands. Perhaps... our relationship is getting better. A tiny bit. He's not yelling at me, pushing me over. Just simply cold. Freezing cold.

"Up next is visiting the training grounds where you can watch Joe, Logan and all of the other soldiers train for war."

I shuddered at the word war. I really hope no one gets injured during it. I squeezed my water bottle. Since Cedric's going to be fighting in the war, Theo, as his stepbrother, was going to fight, right?

My eyes widened at the thought. But he's not at the training grounds, so would he be fleeing with the maids and I?

It was the one thing bugging me. "Lucas," I suddenly blurted out, my face flushing red. My heart pounded inside of my chest. Even though I knew I was innocent and I wasn't Julia, I was still scared of this man.

"What?"

"I..." I hesitated. "Is..... Cedric fighting in the war?" I asked this first, not wanting to get straight to the point. I played with the bottle of freezing water in my hands.

"It's His Majesty to you," Lucas growled. "Who do you think you are to call him by his name?"

"..."

"And yes, he is going to war," Lucas added, his eyes flickering to my face suspiciously.

"And... perhaps... is Theo participating, too?" I lowered my voice and tried to look as harmless - as innocent as possible.

I really hoped Theo wasn't going to war. What if he got injured? Dea... I didn't dare say that word.

"How dare you ask about him!" Lucas suddenly shot up from the bench, raging. I stared at him, bewildered. What did I do? Why couldn't I ask about Theo?

Hatred filled Lucas eyes and I soon realized why.

Lucas hated Theo as much as Cedric did. He threw his plastic bottle on the grass and stormed off, his red face attracting many confused looks from the maids nearby.

I watched as his figure shrank in the distance and finally disappeared. I huffed, crossing my arms in front of my chest. Lucas sure did have some anger issues... or maybe he just cared too much about Cedric.

I bent down and picked up Lucas' empty plastic bottle from the ground and tossed it into the trash can. I sipped my water slowly, watching as the clouds floated by in the sky.

"So the next thing on the schedule is watching the soldiers train," I said out loud, "but why? Is it optional?"

I poured the rest of the water on the grass, letting them swallow it up. Tossing the empty bottle in the trash, I sighed and shrugged. "I have nothing else to do anyway."
