"Julia?!"
Theo was pushed aside and Cedric's head appeared. "Julia?! Julia!" But then he noticed me, the fake Julia.
Cedric gasped and his eyes rolled into his head.
"Your Majesty!" Joe appeared insantly and caught him. "Your Royal Majesty, wake up!" Joe shook Cedric gently, a worried expression on his face.
Theo reached into the bushes and pulled me out. Then Julia.
"Theo!" I cried. I was so glad to see him! I can't believe we would actually be rescued so soon, and by my love! But my words came out all muffled because of the duck tape.
Theo ripped the duck tape off my mouth, leaving a red mark.
"Theo!" I cried again. I wanted to throw my arms around him but the tape around my wrists held me tight.
"Amanda," Theo threw his arms around me instead, burying his head in my shoulder. I did the same. "Oh, Theo, it was such an experience being kidnapped," I cried into his shoulder. "The man was so creepy and rough, and he cut off Julia's long hair!"
Theo removed the duck tape that was wrapping my wrists and ankles. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Are you alright?"
"I don't know."
Julia's wrists and ankles were still tied together, not to mention that there were duck tape wraps still stuck across her mouth. She was wiggling with all her might, but she never took her eyes off Cedric.
Cedric's eyes soon fluttered open and he pushed away Joe, glaring at us. Clenching his fists, he looked at me and then Julia. "What's going on here?" His cheeks were flushed red . "Why are there two Julias?"
"I think it's time to explain," I mumbled. There has been a big misunderstanding all these years. Maybe it's time for the misunderstanding to be solved.
"You might want to sit down for the explanation," I told Cedric.
Cedric looked offended. "I am busy, fake or real Julia, just tell me the reason and off I go!"
"It's kind of a long story," Theo defended me, pushing me behind him. I felt my heart warm up. "It'll be more than a couple sentences."
"Alright, alright."
We all sat down on some rocks on the ground and the knights left, taking the horses away with them, giving us some privacy.
Theo, Julia and I looked at each other.
Theo cleared his throat. "Ahem... brother-"
"Brother?! Who's your brother?!" Cedric snarled. "I don't have a brother."
Julia shuddered and lowered her head. She looked different with her short hair, but still beautiful. Maybe it suited her more.
I jumped to Theo's side. "So, erm, Your Majesty Cedric person," I said stupidly, "there aren't actually two Julias. I'm Amanda,"-I gestured towards my sister-, "and that is Julia, my sister. The actual person you fell in love with."
Cedric opened his mouth to say something, but Theo stopped him. "Their twins," he said, and Cedric shut his mouth. He looked bewildered as he stared at my sister and I. I didn't blame him.
"On the day you first met Julia, she was kidnapped at midnight," Theo started. "The next day you wanted to bring Julia into the palace, but you mistook Amanda as Julia and forced her into the palace."
I explained the rest, and when we were finished, Cedric looked bewildered. His eyes were widened and he was gaping at us.
His normal cold indifferent eyes were replaced with a strange unfamiliar.... soft teary eyes?
I felt my skin crawl at his new look. I backed away.
"All this time," he sniffed, "I-I got the wrong person?! And my pumpkin was kidnapped and I did nothing?" He sniffed and looked away so we couldn't see tears roll down his face.
I felt awkward and wanted to clear my throat.
It felt weird seeing the strong, cold Cedric cry. Theo seemed to understand as he took my hand and stood up. We both took couple step backs to give him some space, turning away and staring at a tree.
But Julia was just sitting there. Then she bit her thumb before jumping to her feet and embracing Cedric.
"...!"
"Cedric, I missed you," Julia whispered. "All these years I watched you from afar, afraid. I thought this day would never come."
Her fingers brushed against his face.
At that moment I thought they were going to kiss. I slammed my eyes shut. Suddenly Theo poked me. I opened my eyes. Cedric was looking at me, his cheeks flustered. "Amanda, I'm..... sorry about the mix up. I hope you can forgive me." He gulped and looked away.
He was saying sorry to me? The most powerful man in the world was apologizing to me?! I blinked at him.
Well, I guess it's no surprise. I deserve it.
I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. Now all I wanted to do is to jump onto a soft fluffy bed and sleep for a million years.
Suddenly I froze and looked at Theo right in the eye.
"Amanda, what's wrong?" Theo looked worried to see me this way, suddenly becoming so serious.
"The war! What if we are defeated? I completely forgot about it!"
"...!" Cedric's eyes widened. It seemed like everyone forgot about the war. Cedric whisled. All the knights and horses appeared.
"Theo, take the Empress and her sister to a safe place," Cedric said, hopping on a horse.
Theo nodded.
Julia looked hurt. "No, we're finally together, take me with you!" she cried to Cedric. She ran towards Cedric's horse. "Please, don't go. Take me with you!"
"No, it's too dangerous my love."
Cedric pulled the reins. "Yeehaw!"
Cedric's horse sped off and all the knights followed.
Julia suddenly climbed onto a horse, panting. She pulled its reins. "Follow them!"
"Julia!" I screamed. My sister was going to be in danger! I tugged Theo's arm. "We have to save my sister!" I cried.
"She practised shooting with guns and all kinds of martial arts. She'll be fine. You should worry about yourself."
He put a hand on my cheek. I blushed.
"C'mon."
I then noticed Snowy. She had been with the group of horses, but now she was here with me, waiting for me to hop on.
"Snowy!" I ran over to my horse. Theo followed me.
I petted her and put my face against her. She licked my cheek.
I heaved myself on Snowy. I was sitting in the front, with Theo behind me. He was holding the reins. He pulled them. "Let's go!"
We sped off in a different direction.
"I know a safe spot," Theo said.
