I walked down the hall towards my chamber with a heavy heart. My mind kept replaying the scene of me promising Theo. Guilt was one of my feelings that I hated the most.

Suddenly, I felt the ground shaking beneath me. I froze, stumbling backwards towards the wall. Every began crashing down. Windows shattered, the ground shook and I heard objects tumbling down from other rooms. The sound of screams and shout as people woke up.

Was this an earthquake?!

BOOM! BOOM!

I heard explosions outside of the palace and scrambled over to the glassless window to get a better view.

There were flames and tanks all over the place. Bombs firing...  buildings collapsing.

BOOM! BOOM!

The Empire of Doom's people were here to attack us! But... but... why are they here so early?! My pupils suddenly shrank. I know.

It was a trick all along!

They were planning on attacking us tonight before the sun rises, and tricked us into believing that they would attack next week!

Suddenly the left over glass on the windows shattered and flew all over the place.

"Argh!" I covered my face with my hands as some glass pieces scratched, pierced and stabbed me.

Trembling, I tried to get down the floor for cover.

BOOM! BOOM!

The sound of bombs being fired off so loud my ears started ringing. I trembled furiously. I wanted someone, someone, ANYONE, to come and save me!

Theo, Joe, Logan, Cedric.... or even Lucas! I don't want to die! I curled up against the wall.

"Julia!" I suddenly heard a familiar voice shout my-no, my sister's name. I saw Angie out of the corner of my eye, dashing in my direction. Panic flashed in her eyes as she helped me up. "Are you hurt, Your Highness?"

I felt so relieved that Angie found me that I couldn't say anything.

Angie's face was dirty, and her arm was even bleeding. "Hurry, we have to get out of here before the whole palace collapses. Most of the maids and guards have left already." She took my arm and we both started dashing towards the exit.

Suddenly I tripped on something, yanking Angie to the floor with me. Another bomb was fired and glass pieces rained down on us.

One glass piece pierced my cheek. Blood dripped down. I was terrified. My legs trembled as Angie hurriedly pulled me up. "We have to go. There's no time to waste."

Angie started to run, but then stopped because I wasn't moving. "Your highness, let's go!"

But my legs felt frozen. My feet felt like they were glued to the ground.

"Your Highness!"

I was scared. I was afraid. I wanted to be in a safe place, to be in Theo's arms.

"It's going to be fine. Cedric and all the others are outside, fighting too," Angie assured me, her face softening.

Angie wiped away my tears. "The knights are strong, so you don't have to worry. They can protect themselves."

Angie yanked my hand. "Now we have to move! The knights are going to come, looking for remaining survivors soon." As we dashed off, I spotted a dead body nearby, buried in bricks and glass.

We passed tumbling shelves, locked bedrooms, shattering windows and we even stepped on broken glass. I wasn't wearing any shoes, but Angie was.

"We have to leave through the back door," Angie told me as the back door slid into view.

I felt like my heart was going to leap out of my chest and I was sweating like crazy.

Angie barged into the door and down the stairs. Without a minute to lose, we kicked the other door open and.... fell onto the ground, exhausted.

I panted and closed my eyes. Then I heard the crunching of twigs as Angie brushed herself up. "Take my hand, Your Highness."

I opened my eyes, taking Angie's hand. The grass were all pulled up, only dry dirt remaining. Uprooted trees and destroyed buildings.

I gasped.

"The Doom Of Empire has done so much damage already... We don't have much time. Quick, let's go."

Without waiting for me to reply, she started running, pulling me along with her. BOOM! BOOM! Bombs blasted behind us.

We skidded to a stop in front of.... the horse stable?!

"Why are we here?" I asked, looking around. The sound of things exploding echoed in the background.

"The carriages are all destroyed, so you need to ride a horse to the neighboring kingdom," Angie explained quickly as she pulled me inside.

My pupils widened. "We're going to the neighboring kingdom?!"

"Of course. It's safe there."

Maybe I should thank Lucas for that horseback riding we did yesterday. She stopped in front of Snowy, who looked as frightened as we were. Angie opened the stall. "Get on." As I hopped on Snowy, Angie swung open another stall.

A dark, black horse stepped out. Angie climbed on, grabbing the reins.

BOOM! Another bomb exploded.

Angie's horse yelped.

"Shh!" Angie instantly cried. "Don't attract anyone!" Then she turned to me. "Let's go. Follow me. I know the way to safety."

Angie yanked the reins and her horse took off. I did the same. Dirt flew from the floor.

"Good girl, it's fine," I said, my voice shaky. But I knew it wasn't fine.

"Don't attract attention.."

Angie's horse sped up. I was about to tell Snowy to speed up too, but then I saw the evergreen forest up ahead remembered the stalker's note.

My face went pale. What should I do?

I wanted to follow Angie wholeheartedly and get to safety. Should I ignore the stalker's note? But....

I clenched my jaw and gritted my teeth. Gripping the reins tightly, I changed directions and charged towards the forest.
