Capri Martin
"Quentin...Grey." My mom murmured as she typed his name into the search bar.

"Ma this is so unnecessary right now." I complained, hovering over her as she typed away at her computer.

This bitch really went to her office from home just to do a background check on Q and I couldn't have been more sick. I hated that she had access to this type of shit as a lawyer and used it to her advantage.

"This is necessary Capri. I need to know who you're bringing into my home. I have a bad feeling about that boy. Did you see that delinquent look on his face? He's no good." She huffed, clicking her tongue on the roof of her mouth.

"It's an invasion of privacy." I argued.

"Yes for your safety. Hell even for mine."

She was full of shit. She was just nosy.

"Ah ha! Quentin Noel Grey! Age 17 to 18!" She exclaimed. "I knew I would find him in the system."

My heart sank as I leaned over the computer. I felt bad peering into his life like this but now I was curious. Usually you can only find people on there if they'd been arrested before and I prayed that wasn't the case. Or this was mistaken identity.

"Ma...please turn the computer off. You're doing too much now."

"Capri shhh!"

Sucking my teeth, I turned away until she started reading.

"It says here he was arrested in 2016 for Graffiti tagging a building in Rainier Beach." She read.

"Rainier Beach?" I questioned.

"Mmhm." She answered. "Bad news. I told you!"

"Whatever...He was like 13 or 14. Every kid makes mistakes."

"Oh and look! He got arrested again in 2019 for possession of a weapon and marijuana. Yeah...Capri. Don't invite that boy back inside this house. Because what the fuck? He looked like a walking criminal and I was 100% right."

I rolled my eyes. "Ma you can't be serious. And the way you just invaded his privacy...that's messed up."

"Capri he's not allowed in this house." She grumbled. "I don't like him. And you shouldn't either. We don't associate with his kind."

"And what exactly is his kind?" I asked trying to get her to admit what she was talking about.

But she stayed silent. Couldn't even speak and it made me so mad.

"Tell the school that you can't tutor him anymore." She huffed, logging off of her computer and getting up from her seat.

"What? Why?"

"I don't want you around him. He looks like bad news. And given his past, I don't think he's a good person to have around the house." She huffed. "And that's final Capri."

There was no fucking way she was gone stop me from seeing Q. There was no way. She'd have to kill me before I stopped seeing that boy. He was my second closest friend as of now and I'd be damned if she'd gotten in between him and I.
