I didn't think Q liked the fact that Elijah was here. He hasn't said much all night. It was awkward! The only people talking were me, his mom and Chantel. Eli hadn't made a sound and Q chimed in once or twice.
It was tense but I just wanted to do sum good! I really wanted them to make up and put what happened behind us. Maybe it'd been too soon to tell. Eli was having his first child and I wanted Q and I to be in its life. So, so bad.
And poor, poor Jen. She'd been clueless about the entire thing. She just thought everyone had been in great spirits and cool with each other.
"So uh..." Elijah spoke, catching everyone's attention.
Q looked up at him but then looked away. Whatever Elijah was gonna say, I hoped it got Q to talk to him.
"Jen...I got sum to tell you." He smirked, taking Chantel's hand.
I think everyone knew what this was about to be.
Jen looked at all of us with confusion. "Wh-what is it?"
"Well I got a luh mini me onna way. Surprise." He smirked.
Jen's jaw dropped in shock. She gasped looking at all of us. I couldn't help but smile. She was too cute.
"Stop it!" She exclaimed, letting a big smile spread across her face.
"Yeah we're 6 months." Chantel nodded, moving in closer to Eli.
"Thought we was only 4..." He chuckled.
"Well we been fuc-" She spoke before, she realized she was at a table full of people.
"I guess you right." Eli snickered, knowing exactly what she meant.
"Well I'm happy for you, baby!" She exclaimed. "I gotta say I think you've grown into a fine young man. You're responsible and very mature. I wish you and Chantel the best. Can't wait to meet my great niece or nephew."
Q immediately scoffed to himself, causing all eyes to dart in his direction. But everyone seemingly ignored it, including Eli.
Maybe it was a sneeze...
"Thank you Aunty." Eli replied.
Then Chantel responded after. "Thank you."
"Here. A toast to new beginnings. Eli and his budding family, Quentin turning another year older, and so on. To y'all!" Jen exclaimed, happier than ever. Then she raised her glass and we followed behind her.
Me, Jen, Chantel, and Eli toasted our glasses but Q had been the only one not participating.
"Come on Q." I whispered, nudging him in the arm.
"Nah. I'm cool off that." He mumbled.
"Come on luh bro." Eli smirked, trying to get him to raise his glass. "What? You too cool fa it?"
Q eyed Elijah like he wanted to jump across the table and kill him. I was really hoping that they'd get along. That was the whole point of this. To reunite them and get them back on good terms.
"Ion make no toasts with snakes. And I ain't talkin bout Pri, my mama, a Chantel."
"Q..." I whispered, trying to get him to chill before this escalated.
"Fuck you talkin bout bro? We was havin a good night all night. Now you on yo shit after a few weak ass drinks." Eli chuckled, somewhat trying to keep the peace with a joking tone.
"What's going on guys?" Jen questioned, looking at both Q and Eli.
"Yo son trippin off that pussy ass long island." Eli answered.
