As usual, Hidemi and I entered the dining hall the next day.
Turns out my hopes of sleeping better last night were a total failure. I still slept like shit...
The dining room scene was as busy as it was yesterday. Even Satoshi turned up again, sitting next to Kenjiro once more.
However, Ryoko still hasn't turned up...I doubt she's dead, but what the hell has she been doing?
"Oh, Chiyo." Hidemi tapped my shoulder from behind me. "You should go to the kitchen."
"Huh? Why?" I wondered. "Don't tell me I have to cook or something...I said I was fine with the bland toast."
"Well, yes. You did say that. And I respected your wishes! But Finn said he wanted to see you...I'm not sure what he wants though." She explained.
"Ugh. I wonder what that guy wants now."
"I'm sure it's nothing bad," Hidemi reassured me with a smile. "I'll go sit down at our table. I invited a few people to join and sit at tables next to us, but I made sure we still got a table with just two seats for ourselves."
"Hm? Oh, you really want me to sit next to you, huh?" I said.
"I-I mean..." her face flushed and she looked at the ground.
"No...N-No! It's fine. I didn't mean it to sound mean like that..." I awkwardly sighed. "It's cool. I like sitting next to you too."
"Oh...I'm glad!" She clapped her hands together. "Right, I'll see you in a bit. I'll make sure no one takes your seat!"
With that, Hidemi made her way to our table as I glanced at the kitchen door.
I wonder what Finn wants this time.
I stepped inside the kitchen to see Finn's back turned towards me, him humming some random tune while grilling something.
"Uh...hey?" I called out to him as he looked over his shoulder to see me.
"Ah, Chiyo! Just the girl I wanted to see." He grinned.
"Hidemi said you wanted to see me. So what's up now?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"Well, I noticed how grossed out you were by your breakfast yesterday."
Damn it, was I that obvious? Did my face really give off that much? But Hidemi didn't notice anything...
Actually, maybe I didn't do anything. Finn is probably just assuming that with his so-called amazing intuition.
It sucks that he's right though...
"And, since I guessed you might still be annoyed with me cause of that stunt I pulled yesterday..." he continued.
"I mean, who wouldn't get annoyed if their competitor threw every game," I replied.
"Actually, I can imagine people who would be happy with that." Finn smugly said.
"You're...right, now that I think about it."
"As I was saying," Finn turned around. "To make up for it, I made you breakfast."
He grinned as he picked up a grilled cheese with his spatula and tossed it in the air, the sandwich landing on a plate in his other hand.
"No need to be a show-off," I murmured under my breath.
"So, what do you think? It's my signature. One half-"
"Yeah, I know already." I took the plate out of his hands. "You don't have to explain how you don't know basics fractions again. I get it."
"Well, I hope you enjoy it."
