⚠️TW: Swearing⚠️
I thought for a moment. That idea might actually work. I've thought of it, but quickly discarded it because I wasn't willing to do it at the time. I thought the wall would just open up soon, but now that it hasn't, Miles might actually be right.
"Okay, I'm willing to do that," I started. "But only me, I'm not risking your life."
Miles frowned, "Now you sound like Liam." I was taken aback by his response. "Sorry, but I'm coming with and there's nothing you can do stop me." With that, he walked back to the Clearing.
I sighed and looked back at the wall before following him.

I packed my backpack and nearly rushed to the Gate. I don't think anybody saw me since I basically trailed the Maze wall inside the Clearing. I almost forgot that me and Miles were going in tonight.
Once I arrived at the Gate, I saw Miles writing something down.
He had on his backpack and an iron knife at his side. He set the pencil down after finishing whatever it was.
"Just a little note for the others to let them know where we are," He explained. I nodded. It was starting to get night already and the Gate would close soon.
"You ready?" I asked. I'm not too sure if I'm ready myself. Everyone has avoided going in overnight, and now me and Miles are doing it willingly. Who knows what will happen? What if the wall doesn't disappear and we'll just be stuck there for the whole night.
"Little nervous, but yeah," He replied. The cranking of metal started and stopped after a split second as the doors began closing. Me and Miles glanced at each other and hurried through the Gate, it closing just a few moments after we entered.
There wasn't any light but our torches that we took off of their holders under our names. The moon above us illuminated some parts of the Maze walls, so it wasn't exactly pitch black, but it was pretty close.
The sound of our boots bounced off of the walls as the vines rattled with the chilly breeze.
"You brought resources to make some kind of fire right?" I asked, shivering a little.
"No, sorry. We could try and use our torches," Miles suggested.
I shrugged, "Might work."
I looked above us and saw that there was some kind of giant branch sticking out of the wall that looked sturdy enough for us to sit on. I attached my torch to my belt and started climbing up the vines.
"Where are you going?" Miles asked.
I hopped off of the vines and steadied myself onto the branch. I jumped slightly and the branch shook a tiny bit. "It'll hold us both. Get up here."
Once Miles was up here, I held my torch in front of the both of us to try and stay warm. I looked up to see Miles looking downwards.
"Long drop," He said nervously.
"Yep. Just don't look down," I said. A sudden cold breeze caught me off guard and blew out my torch.
"Well that's just great," Miles said sarcastically. He sat down and held his torch in front of the both of us. The same breeze came back and blew his out.
"You've got to be kidding me," He said.
Without warning, the branch we were sitting on shook like somebody had just got on it with us. What the hell? The branch let out a loud cracking sound.
"Miles, get back on the vines," I started as I carefully began to stand up. The cracking got louder and more clear. Me and Miles grabbed the vines tightly as the branch snapped off of the wall and fell to the ground with a loud thud that echoed not only off the wall around us, but also off the walls behind the magic wall. Miles pulled himself closer to the vines and my grip got tighter.
