Hmmm, you thought. I'm pretty far so, maybe, I could see a book about magnetic fields or something.

You opened the doors and you had never seen anything so majestic in your entire life - the room reached through two of the floors and there were many, many, high bookshelves and even more books. In the middle of it were very comfy-looking armchairs and little tables, papers scattered across them and a few oil lanterns also laying around, waiting to be used.

You curiously made your way to the tables, partly forgetting what you were searching for in the library in the first place. You hummed to yourself while picking up a paper. 'Narnia' it was titled. It looked like someone's handwritten notes.

'Girls and boys are called Daughters of Eve and Sons of Adam.' you read. Interesting...

"I see you've found interest in my notes." The voice startled you a bit.

"Oh, I'm sorry, was I not allowed to?" you asked, quickly putting the paper down and facing the professor who was now standing in front of you.

"Don't ever apologize for being curious," he said, smiling in a friendly manner. "But that's not what you're actually here for, is it?"

You frowned slightly. "No, I was looking for a book about my compass," you explained, taking off your locket and opening it. "It's been acting weird."

He observed it. "Weird like it doesn't have the letters?"

You frowned, looking at it too. "I could've sworn there were letters."

He chuckled. "Well, I see only the red arrow, don't you?"

"I- I do, but there used to be numbers and letters, and-"

"I believe you," he assured, standing up. "But maybe try following the arrow."

You stared at the Professor's back as he left. Some would've called him crazy but you believed him. He seemed... wise, in a way.
