Total word count: 946

A/N: 26 reads! It's 5:03 in the morning took an hour break because I'm not so sure about the updating process of this thing, and to my surprise I got 26, thanks a lot😊

Also, I'm thinking of trying to finish the young mer storyline along these next 2 chapters, so we can finally jump on to the good stuff

----------------------------

What did I do? What did I do?

These were the only 4 words that came to mind when Ellis hang up the phone.

What did she think was gonna happen? A man she slept with ONCE was just going to drop everything and anything he has just to fly down to Seattle to meet his daughter who might she add might actually be dying. And how is he supposed feel when she all but blurted the probably most shocking news of his day.

Emphasis on DAY, because let's face it it's the infamous "Captain", everyday he has some kind of news for him.

-------------------

An hour has passed since she called, no response from neither him or his perky secretary.

So she had no other choice, Meredith's stats were deteriorating. She paged Knox that she had a decision.

"Put her on the transplant list" was all she had to say before Dr. Knox nodded and called Richard, his Resident, to put Meredith on the transplant list and request to put on top of the list considering she is a top candidate.

------------------------

Thatcher scurried home when he found out about Meredith father. He said he needed time to process his feelings. While Ellis on the other hand had no time for any feelings but rage towards the interns. Screaming at them to look up and down the hospital for a viable doner.

As crazy as it sounds that is exactly what she did, until she was paged to the main entrance.

"What?" She glares at the receptionist with looks that could kill until the woman spoke up. "A Dr. Montgomery is here to see you Dr. Grey"

Before Ellis could say anything, a tall man in a black suit towered behind her.

"Dr. Grey, we spoke on the phone, or rather you RAMBLED on the phone about matters I couldn't take lightly, so if you wouldn't mind, I would like to speak with you for a moment." Captain smirked with an annoyed tone when Ellis just nodded led him to an exam room.

"So I believe I have a daughter, who is dying, and whom I know absolutely nothing about?" He just asks in the calmest way he could make possible.

"Some may put in that way" Ellis says trying to avoid making eye contact.

"Well here is what is going to happen Dr. Grey, I will get tested for the bone marrow match right after this little chat of ours" He says sternly, and Ellis let's out a big sigh she didn't know she had.

"BUT, with the condition that a Paternity test will be done along with. Because you have to understand, as credible as I believe you are I don't think I could trust some woman I slept with only once, 5 years ago who which I vaguely remember to tell me that I have a child." He continues on as quick as he can.

"That's fair enough" Ellis simply replied, and they both rushed to find Dr. Knox and have the captain tested for both needed tests.

Hours had gone by, the results were in and to Ellis' relief he was a match for Meredith and Dr. Knox would the stem cell transplant in the break of dawn.

As for the paternity test, Meredith is now without a doubt the daughter of Dr. Ellis Grey and Dr. Captain Montgomery.

The surgery was done with flying colors and Meredith only needed to be there for two more weeks, given that her stats wouldn't plummet in between those given times.

-----------------------

"Dr. Grey, may I speak with you?" The captain nudged as Ellis was on the couch in Meredith's Room doing charts.

"What do you need Dr. Montgomery?"  Ellis asks not looking away from the charts.

"I would like to talk about the involvement I would have in our daughter's life, once she is discharged." He says grabbing a chair to sit beside her.

Ellis looked up intrigued by the conversation, "Involvement?"

"Yes, I would like her to come and live with me and my family in Connecticut"

Ellis couldn't speak at all, she couldn't say anything.

"let's face it Dr. Grey you are at the prime of your career. You had just won a Harper Avery while just being a resident, and all that while juggling being a mother and a wife. What if I give you the choice right here, right now, to start over."

Ellis puts down the chart and pen, and now listening intently.

"You could grant me full custody of Meredith and you wouldn't have to lift a finger with legal work. She would live with me and you could either choose to have visitation rights, or just not see her altogether."

She just listens now looking at her sleeping child on a hospital bed whom all her life Ellis was aware of how she had neglected her.

"I'm giving you an out Dr. Grey, I'm giving you a chance to be as extraordinary as you want to be. Without having to worry about anyone or anything else."

What was cruel was she was actually considering leaving her child to this well-off man whom she met once on a drunken Friday night, to pursue the career she was destined to have.

While on the train of thought, the suited mouth opened his mouth once more.

"What's it gonna be Dr. Grey?"

A/N: Again 26 reads is amazing enough for me thank you and here are the questions.

Would Ellis be shallow enough to give up her daughter for her career?

How would her decision making affect Meredith?

Is the Captain someone we trust? And should I consider changing or adding a name for him?

How do we like the story so far?

I said it once, I'll say it again, any and all medical jargon found in this book are not in any way reliable.
